Aphra has just moved to Redwood, California from Florida. She is new and needs to make new friends. However, sometimes things are harder without her dad around.
Ms Fernsby was waiting at the door, her big blue eyes saying Happy happy happy!
“Hi Aphra! How are you?” Aphra just smiled. Ms Fernsby smiled back.
Aphra walked nervously into the classroom, searching for her desk. Aphra finally spotted a name tag that said, “Aphra Beckett”. Then another girl walked over. She had long brown hair in a low messy bun, and hazel almond-shaped eyes. She was wearing a lavender sweatshirt and a pink cloth headband with little rainbows on it.
“Hi, I'm Rosie. What's your name?” The girl said.
Aphra glanced at Rosie's nametag. It read, “Rosie Miracle”.
“Uh… Aphra.”
“Nice to meet you, Aphra,” Rosie smiled and unpacked her bag. “I love your earrings.”
Aphra smiled back like she did with Ms Fernsby. She sat down and read the novel she packed.
“Hey people!” Another girl walked in, breaking Aphra's silence. She looked up from her novel, slightly annoyed but also curious. The blonde girl was dressed in all sportswear, and behind was a boy who was wearing blue glasses.
“Hi, I'm Mia. I play for the Redwood City soccer team and it's my third season now!”
“Oh, hi, Mia. I think you sit by Aphra,” Said Rosie. Aphra gave Mia a tiny wave. “Oh, and you're Justin, right?” She looked at the boy who had come in after Mia. Justin glanced over and walked to his seat next to Rosie.
