It was Tuesday. The second school day of the week. I was learning math, along with everyone else.
"Psst!" My friend Sonya whisper-shouted to me. She handed me a note. It said, 'Math is so boring! I wish something exciting could happen!'
I turned to nod at her, agreeing that math, indeed, was boring. Of course, all subjects are boring in my school. But, that's probably because of the teachers teaching. They just keep talking, and talking, and talking. I glanced outside. Leaves outside were falling. I muttered a sigh. I looked at the clock. Ten more minutes of math. I held back a sigh of disappointment. I took out my notebook to take notes, hoping that time would pass quicker. It didn't. After about 6 minutes or so, I looked back at the clock. Almost the end of math. Relief washed over me, maybe I could survive school without sleeping in class. All the classes we had left were English, Social Studies, and Gym. After that, we were done with school for today. The trees swayed outside, showing that a large wind hit the air. I saw Jerome looking at the clock. 2 more minutes. The math teacher was explaining our math homework. Jokes on him though, we now have electronic devices to solve that homework. I looked at the clock once again, and I saw that there were 30 seconds left in the math period. Everyone in the class, except for the brainiacs (who don't use any electronics), stared at the clock. 10...."Everyone, please make sure to do your homework in correct decimals and...." 9....8....7...
"Oh! And make sure to use the correct pi decimals and fractions, too!"....5....4....3....2....1! We all waited for the bell to ring. "Hmmm..." Our math teacher looked at the bell. He kicked it. "DONG! DONG! DONG!" The bell went. Everyone rushed out of the classroom as quickly as we could. That was a relief! We had a few minutes before we had to go to English, so I went to my group of friends. "Hey guys!" Sonya said to us. "Look what I've got!" She showed us 19 packs of gum. "Wow! Where'd you get THAT?" Betsy asked.
"C'mon! Let's go to the outside bathroom to chew this! No adults never come in there!" Jerome whispered. We all agreed, and we headed to the bathroom outside. All of my friends, Sonya, Mathew, Jerome, Bridget, Cassie, David, Mat, Cherry, and Fiona sneaked along the path to the bathroom with me. Sonya passed out the gum, and we popped it into our mouths. We chewed in silence. Then, all of a sudden, there was a heavy knock on the bathroom door. We all jumped back a little. Mathew slowly walked towards the door, he looked through the peek.
"AHHH!" He yelled. He fell backward. The door opened with a creek. There was no one there. "Hey, there's no one there!" I said. "What were you afraid of?" Mathew stuttered something on the lines of "S-sc-sc-sc-scary-p-p-p-p-p-per-per-person...B-b-black...g-gem-..." The English teacher suddenly walked in, and she looked at all of us in surprise. "What are you all doing here?" She said sternly. She looked at a piece of gum wrapper on the floor that Mathew dropped when he fell back. "GUM?" she yelled. "DETENTION FOR EVERYONE IN HERE! NO EXCUSES!" She escorted us back to the school, and we went to our lockers to get our English books. What an amazing time we had.
