Kayla is a nameless orphan, who is being ill-treated by her foster family. She runs away, only to fall in the hands of other foster families, who treat her worse than ever. Kayla soon discovers she has a half-older sister, who betrayed her, but lived a life of misery. Kayla can't do anything but save Karen, or worse, become a slave.
"Why can't we find her?" Serena complained.
"Well, Serena, we're just looking in random places. I think we might need to go to the river where we put her down," I said.
So we drove to the river.
It was dry.
"Hey, look! It's really dry, I can even see my feet through the little bits of water and mud," said Serena, putting her feet into the dry river.
"That's weird, oh well, let's walk down the river," said Sally.
"But you just said it's weird that the river is really dry. There might be a storm coming or something," I piped up.
"Oh come on, you two. Stop being such worry worms or whatever they call it. Let's go look for Kelly," Sally sneered.
We split up and Sally went up the rocks, Serena went up the river bank and I went up the trees.
After an hour of searching, I gave up. "She's probably not even here," I heard Sally shout from far away.
Suddenly, there was a gurgling sound.
I looked around. What was that?
But then I realized it was coming from the river!
Water was coming here and there and at an instant I realized- A FLASH FLOOD!!
A scream for help was heard.
I stared in horror as I saw Sally get swept away by the current.
The sky was getting darker and darker and I felt it was yelling at me, saying, "Oh Kayla, you should've been more careful on your running away mission, now the Marrons are in danger,"
