Ahh high school. The never endless homework, tests, and drama. Remember? They say high school is going to be the best part of your life. Is it? Here's the answer: NO. As a 2020 graduate, I present to you, my first year of high school based off of a true story. In it has drama I never faced, things I never knew, and things I never thought I was capable of.
After several days I didn't see E that much. After Algebra was lunch, me and E walked to the lunchroom together. But E would walk in the library instead of the cafeteria. In two weeks, I never saw E again in class. I thought she had doctors appointments, later her sister found me in the library and told me that E was in a home bound system until she maintained a healthy weight.
"I've sent her texts." I said concerned. "Do you know why she hasn't answered them."
"She's grounded." Kate said gently. "Grounded until she gets better."
Kate handed me a piece of paper.
"That's my phone number if you want to call or text her."
"Thank you." I said. "I will."
E was diagnosed with anorexia in early November, it was around December when she was put in the home bound system. I kept a prayer journal at that time and prayed for my friend everyday. I texted her as much I could. People kept asking me questions about her, how she was doing. I didn't say anything, I was her friend, and she was going through something rough.
"Did you hear that E has anorexia?" Victoria asked.
"Yes."
"I heard that she has it so bad, you can see her organs."
"That's not true." I said sharply. "That isn't even possible."
"Kate's friend said it." Victoria said as we finished the loop.
"I still don't believe you Victoria; you've been here for two months. You don't know anything about E's condition."
She rolled her eyes and ran ahead of me.
One day, when I was getting ready for bed I wrote in my journal.
God,
Please heal my friend. I miss her, and Liz and Sam misses her. Please heal my friend, and I pray we will meet again.
-Amen.
