Ahh high school. The never endless homework, tests, and drama. Remember? They say high school is going to be the best part of your life. Is it? Here's the answer: NO. As a 2020 graduate, I present to you, my first year of high school based off of a true story. In it has drama I never faced, things I never knew, and things I never thought I was capable of.
I sat in the library, finishing my algebra homework. It was free period, 8:05. I saw E walk in with her red plaid backpack on.
"How was your doctor's appointment?" I asked as I closed my book.
She set her backpack in a chair next to me and walked over to the fantasy section. She reached up picking out a book from the top shelf.
"I haven't seen you in a couple of days."
"My parents won't let me leave until I eat something." There was sadness and anger in her tone. She reached for another book.
"Really like what?"
"I don't know." she said annoyed. "She made me eat a donut, which was stupid, I had an orange slice."
I nodded, even though I had no idea what she was talking about. She walked to the checkout counter, I sat down in the table, putting my notebooks in my backpack. She came back, and set the books in front of her backpack. She sat across from me, looking sad.
"Abs... can I tell you something?"
I nodded.
"I have... anorexia." she whispered.
"What?" I asked leaning forward. "I can't hear you."
"I have anorexia," She said softly. "Don't worry, it's not contagious."
I nodded sympathetically. I had no idea what it was.
"I'm praying for you." I said softly.
She looked up.
"You don't have to do that."
"I do." I said.
"I'll be going to more doctor's appointments." She said softy. "So you won't be seeing much of me."
