Ahh high school. The never endless homework, tests, and drama. Remember? They say high school is going to be the best part of your life. Is it? Here's the answer: NO. As a 2020 graduate, I present to you, my first year of high school based off of a true story. In it has drama I never faced, things I never knew, and things I never thought I was capable of.
I sat down in my school lunch table with E. She picked the food off her lunch tray, nibbling it.
"How was your weekend?"
She shrugged.
I grabbed my pizza and took a bite, E said a prayer over her food and stared at it. After a while she took a small bite of her pizza and handed me her small frozen fruit cup.
"You know what makes me angry" E asked.
I shook my head.
"Kate." She said sharply, crossing her arms.
Kate, E's older sister.
"Everyone likes her. Boys talk to her all the time and thinks she's pretty but me."
She huffed.
"No boys like me."
I didn't know what to say.
"Well... no one really likes me. I'm pretty quiet and all my friends are girls. I don't know how to talk about guys, and I have two brothers."
E shook her head.
"It's not the same."
She pushed her tray.
"Everyone likes how she looks too, no one complements me on how I look."
She picked up her full tray.
"I'm not hungry, I'm going to the library."
I nodded and finished my food in silence.
