I sat in the school office nervously waiting for Mr. Robertson. I had broken Mrs. Kathryn's classroom window and she'd gotten pissed. It had just been me and another kid, retaking a boring math quiz during what was supposed to be our lunch break.
I had asked her if I could open the window and she grudgingly nodded her head. I found that the window was a little stuck so I tried pulling harder. This I had found out was a mistake. Before the window frame had broken and the glass shattered I had felt a calm wash over him. I had been so surprised that I hadn't heard Mrs. Kathryn's yelling. The other kid had looked up briefly and went back to his work as if nothing had happened.
Mrs. Kathryn had dragged me to the office, not once listening to my explanations or pleas.
Two weeks ago I had blown up a science experiment, which had filled the whole hallway and several classrooms with smoke. Two sophomores had been sent to the hospital with minor burns and smoke inhalation. For some strange reason, I had been fine.
I looked up in time to see Mr Robertson's door open and for his principle to beacon him over. I slowly rose from the chair and walked over to him. When we were both inside the office and seated Mr.Robertson spoke, "I was informed by Mrs. Kathryn on what happened, Jason"
It was an accident-"
"This isn't your first trip to my office. Safety and security are my top priorities in keeping my students distracted from their education. You will be liable to pay for the damage you have caused. You are very fortunate to have parents like yours who have high paying jobs. I am very grateful for the donations they make to the school bored but again safety and security are my top priorities. I am very sorry to inform you that you will not be able to attend Rock Creek high school anymore."
I stared at the floor, several thoughts racing through my mind.
"I've been looking through your class grades and none of them are very eligible except the B in the World History class."
"When am I leaving?" I asked, my voice low.
"Today. I have called your parents and have informed them of the situation and the current events. They are both at work and are not able to pick you up. You may finish up the rest of your classes as of today."
The rest of the school day went by at a snail's pace. I wasn't paying any attention to the lessons (not that I paid that much attention any other day). The bell finally rang in my 7th period English class. I gathered my things and walked to his locker. I emptied it out and walked out of the back entrance, dropping off my lock at the security office.
It had always been difficult for me to make friends since I moved every few months because of the jobs my parents had. I had never felt like I ever belonged anyway.
