Chapter 1 of 1 - ---

Thirteen year-old Naomi laid curled up in bed, her blanket soaked with tears. "Why are they mistreating me? What did I ever do to them?" she thought. The questions whirled throughout her mind. Naomi new she would never, ever, forgive mom and dad. She would never forget the look of joy on their faces as they screamed at her for being home late. They sent Naomi to her room without any meals. Her mother and father had adopted her because her birth parents died, and they were her birth fathers aunt and uncle. As soon as she had screamed, "I HATE YOU!!" and leapt upon her bed, she heard her cruel parents turn back to Naomi's older sister, Melissa, whos report card was all perfect scores. "A+....A+......another A+..... amazing Melissa!! This shows how responsible and smart you are..." Naomi drowned the sound out by smooshing the pillow against her ears. A while later, Naomi crept downstairs to see what everyone was doing. Mom and dad were having a conversation, and Melissa was blabbering on the phone on the back patio. "Honestly George," Naomi heard her mother say, "I don't even know why we bother to keep Naomi." From hearing this, Naomi clenched her fists, her fingernails digging into her palm, but was careful not to lash out and let mom and dad see her. "Well, yes. I've got an idea...a surprise for you, Rebecca. We will be taking Naomi to Disney world," he said, making quotes. "And then we'll leave her and never come back!" Naomi didn't wait for her mothers' reply. That was all she needed. She jumped out from her hiding place and yelled. "You don't have to bring me to Disney! You don't have to pretend you love me! Because you DON'T!!! So I'm leaving. Goodbye;" Naomi marched up to her bedroom and grabbed her backpack. It was rather large, so she shoved in a few clothes, her toothbrush, and a small pillow. She then dragged her backpack into the kitchen and grabbed several bottles of water. She grabbed packs of granola bars and slipped on some shoes, and ran out the door. With one final glance at her so-called "family", she slammed the door shut and whipped through the air to the forest. (If anyone thinks this is copying, I'm sorry. I didn't realize yours was like this.)
