Annie and Emma are in a bunker, safe from a tornado. They find a young girl there too. Suddenly, rubble and wood burns the bunker, leaving Annie to help her friends.
Boom! A bolt of lightning shot down just inches away from me. My best friend, Emma, screamed my name, grabbed my hand and yanked me away
.We had to hide. I looked around frantically and saw a small hatch poking out from underneath a hay wagon. "There!" I yelled, and I pulled Emma to it.
We dragged the wagon out of the way. Panting, we slowly opened the hatch. I held it open for Emma and she quickly jumped in. I did too, and I closed the hatch above me.
The bunker muffled the sound, but you could still hear the tornado, jumping around from place to place.
I saw a small lantern in the corner and picked it up to get a better look around.
There was a girl, with her head in her knees. She looked no older than 6.
I elbowed Emma and nodded at the girl.
Emma went over to the girl and touched her gently.
The little girl jerked her head up.
I could see her more clearly now.
She had red hair tied up in pigtails, but they looked frayed and dirty. She had the bluest eyes I had ever seen, and her face was dotted with freckles. She was wearing a little romper that was splotched with something that I couldn't tell if it was blood or dirt.
"What's your name?" I asked.
The girls' lip trembled, and through tears, she said, "Clancy..."
"Hi, Clancy. I'm Emma, and this is my friend Annie." Emma said calmly.
"Hi," I said, careful not to startle Clancy.
Just then, a large piece of rubble ripped through the bunker and hit Emma, Clancy, and I.
