So from now the story is going to be from Lucy's POV, at least until Jade is found. There will be Jade's POV too, soon. Anyways, happy reading!
Lucy POV
I wondered what had happened to Jade when suddenly a big purple box came crashing down.
Was this a sign that Jade was in trouble and needed help? I poked my head into the dumbwaiter wall and saw that the dumbwaiter was already down.
Uh oh. Jade was stuck in the attic. I thought the purple box must be her find.
I quickly grabbed it and shoved it under the ironing table.
I needed to help Jade.
"Jade! JADE?!" I cried, as loud as I could.
Fortunately, mum and dad were asleep so they wouldn't know.
But I had to be quiet.
"JADE!!!!!" I screamed.
Suddenly, I heard a screech from the study (there is a study room in our house, it's just so big).
I quickly ran to the study but saw no one was there.
There was a sudden movement by the wall, or was it the shelf?
The screech continued, louder, in a high-pitched voice. Huh?
It didn't sound like Jade, she was brave. Not a shameless crybaby like me.
I thought for a second. "Maybe it's Ella?"
No. It couldn't be. Actually, it could be!
And then, I heard a screech from the laundry.
Was Jade back down? No. I told myself. That's not Jade's screech. It's Ella.
I ran to the library and found a small notebook.
I quickly labeled it "MY DETECTIVE DIARY" and decided to start a secret detective agency of my own, but I knew this was for Jade. To look for Jade and know what happened to her. Maybe she was still up there? Wailing for help? Idk!
I scribbled.

The Mystery of Missing Jade (+Ella and the Elvis Manor)
Dear detective diary,
What happened yesterday
We moved into a new house.
The house is rumored (it's real, no kidding) to be haunted by an old woman named Ella's ghost.
LOTS OF DETAILS
She did not like anyone, was selfish and unknind.
P.S. her parents died and her aunt abandoned her.
P.P.S She was lonely and mean.
Jade wanted to go up the dumbwaiter and see if there is anything in the attic.
She went, and did not return. But a purple box got thrown down. It was a sign she was in danger.
I am going to look into the purple box to see if anything is in it.
BRB
I closed my notebook and brought the purple box into my room.
It was dusty and I hate dusty things.
I slowly opened it and then ran to the other side of the room.
Nothing.
Good.
Then I thought about how dumb I was to think that there would be a ghost in the box.
Oh! I'm so easy to spook!
I shook my head and dug into the box.
I found a little bag. I opened it.
It had some old green and pink rubber bands, scraps of paper, pencils, pens, a small pad, red fingernail clippers and all kinds of odds and ends.
I also found a diary.
YES!
So Jade was right.
I opened the first page and it said, in neat handwriting, "This book belongs to Arella Helen Martin (Ella)"
I flipped and read,
April 16, 1894
Dear Diary,
Mr.Macc-o, the old postman, my dear friend, he died!. He is my only friend. And nobody even knows it! And he died. They think I'm some old crook, but no. I'm a bright woman, only I don;t care for anyone. No one ever loved me, Aunt Zara abandoned me, my parents died and my neighbors detested me. I shall just sit back and relax and do nothing all day but read, talk to Mr.Macc-o, or pace around. But poor Mr.Macc-wasn't there anymore. I cried and cried myself to sleep. He died of...well...I don't really know. I mite go sad, mourning, for the rest of my life. I already made a vow. If I don't get to talk to Mr.Macc-o again, when I die I shall haunt this house and do all sorts of bad things to the people living here after me. I shall steal their things, kidnap them, or far worse, commit a m*****y. That's all for now, mon hon. (Mr.Macc-o's nickname for me). I shall go to bed and cry.
So long for now, Ella Martin."
