Creepy things begin happening once the Jones move into the Elvis Manor haunted by an old woman's ghost. What else could happen? Jade and Lucy try to settle into their new house. But soon a scary new adventure unfolds. Read on to find out what happened...
"Could this really be Arella?" cried the priest.
"I thought her name was Ella?" Lucy questioned.
"Well, her full name was Arella, which is a queer name. But let's drop the matter. I shall be at your house tomorrow, and we shall do prayers and read a few verses."
The priest then concluded the meeting, which went strangely short.
The Jones went home, worried.
They had a normal day after that, no more bruises, (the girls' ones were cured with some medicine) and they forgot about the incident (not completely though)
Jade and Lucy were sitting in Lucy's room, drawing pictures to refresh their minds.
"What will we do?" cried Lucy, suddenly.
She was sketching a favorite flower of hers, and stopped at the petals.
"What do you mean?" asked Jade, who was busy beginning to color her well-drawn playground.
"You saw what Ellla said in the letter, didn't you? She was going to ruin our lives like hers! Although I don't think many people should know, it's like getting revenge on someone who just moved into your house, and treating them as if they commited a robbery!" Lucy reasoned.
"You are right," said Jade. "So we are going to figure out why Ella's ghost is in her house. You know, Mum always said Grandpa was in heaven when we were little, but if he is in heaven-" (for their grandfather had a cabin) "-then why is he not in his cabin? I read a bit of ghost comics yesterday and it said that spirits usually stay back because they are afraid of something, or many other reasons."
"Hmm..true, but how are we going to find it out?" asked Lucy.
"I don't know...aha!" Of course, in moments like these, the ideas that seem so good at first but don't work at last, these ideas occur. And Jade came up with it. "Listen, Ella must've been a hideous person, right? Well, we could go to the attic, where most of her belongings are stored and we could peep into her diary,"
Jade excitedly confided the plan.
Lucy frowned. "Are you sure she even HAS a diary?"
"Of course, why not?" Jade said, jolly. (Jolly Jade sounds like a good name for her) "All lonely people have diaries, I know! Let's go to the attic now!"
"If you say so," Lucy said, bravely standing up, but truth was, she was afraid.
"Now we just have to find a dumbwaiter," said Jade.
"Do you know how to ride one?"
"Well.." Jade hesitated before answering. "No, but we shall give it a try,"
Then she vigorously stood up and made for the door.
Lucy made a sick face and followed Jade to the kitchen, where their mother was washing dishes.
"Hi dears, feeling better?" asked Mrs.Jones.
"Yes, mum..uh...we wanted to ask where is the dumbwaiter?" said Jade.
"It's somewhere near the laundry, I think." Mrs.Jones answered. She narrowed her eyes.
"Why?"
"Um, we want to just..um..check it out!" Jade lied. "Come on Lucy," she whispered to Lucy and together they went to the laundry.
