Chapter 28 of 31 - Chasing nothing

Lucy POV Mum and dad had everything packed away. Well, not everything. They still had to pack up the bedrooms, laundry, kitchen, bathrooms and the living room. But the rest of the rooms were all packed and ready. "It would do us really good if you two chose to help us," Dad groaned. "We're..er...busy celebrating," I lied. Jade smirked. After our CDA meeting after lunch, I stumbled back up the stairs to my room to think. Our plan was surely going to succeed, but we needed to work it out, and that would be taking a risk. WE could be caught by the trap! But then, I had the motivation. "JADE! Jade!" I called out. Jade ran in. "What is it?" "I've got a plan to make this plan work," "You know, I was reading a book," said Jade. "It said that people spend half of their lives worrying about 'plans'. If we go without them, we have a plan at the last moment, and then you won't even need to keep it in your head for so long," "Rubbish!" I replied. "Well in this case, we need a plan. And I've got one, listen to it," "Fine," Jade groaned. ~ In half an hour, we had the plan sorted out. Mum and dad still didn't know, of course. Jade was standing by the attic wall, while I was next to the dumbwaiter. Suddenly, there was a screech. And then, it was chaos. Ghosts were flying everywhere, the dumbwaiter gave away (and so did Mum's apple pie) and the Darkers were running too. Ella was behind all of us, screeching louder than ever. I bit my lip as I hit the hard ground, with a gash on my knee. I saw Jade running too, with more scratches. "You can do this, Lucy," I stuttered and said that over again, in a louder voice. Mum was out of her wits, Dad seemed to be the most confused person ever and me and Jade were just running. We needed to find out what was going on! Jade POV I didn't know what to do. The darkers and the rest of the ghosts were screaming and flying around the house, while Ella was chasing them, and us. Ella caught sight of me as I looked straight into her eye. "You..fil-" But someone grabbed her away. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!" Ella screeched. I covered my ears. (I think I saw Ronnie do the same) And then- I think- my ear-drums-died.. "JADE! WHY IS ELLA BEING SUCH A CREEPSTER?!" Lucy shouted over Ella's screeches, which were growing louder and louder. "I DON'T KNOW!" I shouted back. "WHAT?!" "I SAID-" Mum and dad emerged, covering their ears. It was like LIVING IN A HOUSE FULL OF NEWBORN BABIES!! "Get them!" Ella screeched. Us, you mean. But the darkers or the other ghosts were not listening. They fled. "We need to get Ella out of this house!" Holly, Drat, Layla and Abbe wailed at once. "WHY?!" I shouted. "Be-cause- she is-arrgh! -going crazy!!" Allie shouted. They didn't sound evil anymore. But it could be a trick. "WHY SHOULD I BELIEVE YOU?" Lucy shouted. "BECAUSE I'M A DARKER!?" Suddenly, I heard the darkers' song. Ella was singing it and staring at the darkers. I froze. So the darkers weren't evil after all! If you estimated all of this, Ella was controlling them. With the darkers' song. The darkers' faces slowly turned darker, and darker. "Uh oh!" said Lucy, who seemed to know this too. "We need a way to distract Ella! And stop her singing!" I cried. Suddenly, a brilliant idea popped into my head.
