Chapter 3 of 31 - The next morning and disasters

Jade yawned as she awoke the next day. Suddenly, she heard a screech. She rushed into Lucy's room, to see what was the matter. Her parents were already in there, comforting Lucy. "Lucy what happened?" cried Jade. "Oh, Jade! I've got all these scratches on my body and a horrible note left on my dresser." Lucy sobbed. "Dear, dear! Mum, dad? Why are there scratches on her body?" Mrs.Jones turned and widened his eyes. "Jade! You've got scratches too!" Jade rushed to the bathroom and looked into the mirror and screamed a horrified scream. She looked like a monster, with scratches! Her leg was bleeding, and her arms looked like a nightmare. "You're right! There are scratches on my body and Ella's ghost has done it!" she cried. The parents were very worried and took them to the church where the priest was puzzled out of his mind. "Ghosts? Ella? I have heard of her. The young un' lived next door to me when I was just a boy. I knew she died, the houses around her were cursed. And all.." "Well, we heard strange noises at night and the scratches!" "She might be real after all!" the priest shook his head. Then he looked up. "What about the strange note?" "Mr.Priest, we found a strange note resting on Lucy's dresser, that wasn't there the night before," said Mrs.Jones. "Do you have it?" "Ah, yes. Jade brought it along with her. Come on, Jade." Jade took a piece of paper out of her pocket and together they read: "So you think life will be pleasant here? Well, no. Not in my house. It's mine, hear that? You will now be allowed in it. You don't belong! Mine and mine only! Forever mine! But now that you claim this house as your own, you'll be mine too. Forever%u2026 Signed, Ella Helen Martin, 1886-1970"
