Lucy POV
"RUN!" I cried and we all took off.
Mum and dad quickly ran down the secret way and me and Jade, having lost them, we decided to jump down the dumbwaiter.
I know, it's a foolish idea, but it was still an idea.
Ella was screaming furiously. She was gaining speed, coming up to us.
I nodded at Jade, biting my lips.
Jade nodded back at me.
We held hands and jumped.
I felt cool air brush past me.
We went past the bricks, and landed on the dumbwaiter with a thud.
The entrance to the dumbwaiter into the laundry was in front of us.
We jumped and landed in the laundry.
"Quick! Block the dumbwaiter entrance with the washing machine!" cried Jade.
The washing machine was too heavy. So I shoved the dryer instead.
Ella was trapped inside.
She screamed a horrible scream.
I covered my ears.
"HURRY! Let's go to the library!"
We ran to the library. But our parents weren't there.
"Maybe they used another secret way?" I added. "There are many in this house, you know,"
"You're right," said Jade.
We ran to the parents' bedroom.
No one there.
"There's a secret way down the grate in our bedroom, isn't there?" I said.
"I didn't know," said Jade, shrugging. "But you're right. Let's go,"
We searched the walls like I did when I was looking for the button to the secret passageway.
We suddenly heard banging.
It sounded like mum and dad!
"MUM! DAD!" Jade shouted.
"GIRLS! Open the wall! Ella is after us!"
I pushed the button and the wall opened immediately.
"Yes!"
Ella was screeching horribly.
We shut the wall on her, then we secured all the locks and shut up the secret passageways.
Dad added secure locks on them, with tight keys so she wouldn't be able to get out.
We were quite relieved!
But we knew it wasn't over yet, Ella was going to be back for revenge.
Mum said we should rest for a day and plan to get rid of Ella tomorrow.
