"Hmm..hmm.." Lucy shifted around her bed that night.
Before they had moved here, Lucy and Jade had slept in one room together.
There were no ghosts in their old house, which was better! thought Lucy.
Suddenly, she heard a creak.
Frightened, she hid under the covers and clutched her pillow tight.
Another creak.
"It must be Jade using the bathroom," she reassured herself.
Another creak.
"It must be mum or dad, checking on us. They will be in my room any moment."
Another creak.
"It must be the wind. I did leave the door open a crack."
Another creak sounded out into the darkness and the window flung open suddenly.
Lucy shrieked loudly.
Jade heard her and came in.
"Lucy, Lucy! What's wrong?" she cried. Suddenly, she noticed the open window.
"Why is the window open?"
"I don't know! It's Ella! Ella's ghost!" cried Lucy, almost in tears.
"Lucy Arielle Misty Jones, there is no such thing as ghosts! The weather forecast said there was to be howling wind at night, nothing else. You heard the wind, that's all!" Jade explained.
"But I'm still scared. Can I sleep in your room?" asked Lucy.
"You can, but come only if you feel scared," said Jade, being the big sister.
Lucy nodded.
The door squeaked loudly as Jade left the room.
Lucy closed her eyes and finally drifted asleep.
