Note: I will be using the pronouns "HE" and "HIM" for Honesty.
He was walking on the streets, unnoticed by humans.
Nowadays, people hardly paid attention to him. They ignored him like something of no importance.
Due to this all, he was getting smaller and smaller, weaker and weaker. He roams around the world to find just one person who can help him to live for at least a day.
Whenever he saw people ignoring him and making fun of him in his face, all he could do was to cry out aloud:
" I am here for your aid! If I am gone, you will be living a life that will be the worst! There will be no friends. There will not be a single person whom you could trust! Why are you all so ignorant? I am here for your aid!"
But as usual no one paid attention to him.
This is the story of a particular day. Honesty was walking along the streets, weaker than ever. It seemed like he will be dead any second now when he heard voices from inside a house.
He stopped in his tracks, his heart jumping up and down to see or at least hear a bit of honesty so that he could live today.
He heard a man saying to his wife.
" I made a lot of money today. I think we should celebrate." The man said.
" Oh really? How did you make more money today?" A woman's voice came.
" Oh. It is just simply easy. A man came at my shop to buy a carton of apples. I filled the carton with a week's old apples and put two layers of fresh apples on the very top. The customer was very happy to see the shinning apples and paid me more than the actual price which was already quite high. That's it." The man said in a proud voice.
Outside the house, Honesty felt like someone had stabbed him with a dagger. He stumbled but held the fence.
" Wow. You are very smart. This is how everyone's doing business these days." Came the woman's voice.
Hearing it, Honesty practically fell down. So, now dishonesty has been labeled as smartness? He thought in his weak mind.
Not letting go of hope, Honesty dragged himself forward and after a while, he stopped in front of a playground where two boys were talking.
" I got A+ and you?" One boy asked the other.
" I got B." The other answered.
" I told you we could use some help. I was right, wasn't I? I got A+ and you wearing the label of honesty on your forehead got B." The first boy said.
" I would rather fail than cheating you know. I think getting an honest B grade is better than a dishonest A+." The other replied.
" Whatever. Keep your lectures with you. I beat you today. Why don't you admit it?" The first said.
" Well, do you study for good grades? I think you do. If you study for getting knowledge and utilizing it to do something great then you would never have cheated. You got good grades now. But what would you do during your practical life? You will fail there..........." The lecture of the boy was still going on but Honesty felt like someone had recharged his battery.
He stood up and went to search for more honest people.
Another bright ray of honesty has helped him to live today.
Author's Note: I know this story sounds like something you teach a first grader but the thing is nowadays, older people need to read more of these moral stories so that they could come in handy during their life. Also, there is no age to learn something. Hope you enjoyed~READER/Shifa_TA
