This is the story of a girl named Ember, who doesn't have a very good relationship with her parents. She feels like nobody wants her anymore. Can she beat the sadness and be happy again, or will the fire burn out making her just an ember flickering in the darkness?
The day finally finishes and the bus drops everyone off. I casually walk home thinking about how my parents will react from getting a notification about my behavior. Probably the usual "How did today go? Did anything happen?" I don't get why they say that when they know something has happened.
Then Arron, a boy from my primary school who I've always disliked, comes up to me with a load of his mates and says,
"Ember! Ember is it true you got sent today?"
"Yeah?" I say. "Isn't it obvious, I get sent pretty much every week".
"Haha. Yeah right it's more than that stoopid".
"Arron FUGG OFF will you!!!" I yell.
"Oop." Then they all skitter off "Anger issues!" He adds.
I unlock the front door then dump my bag on the bottom of the stairs. Wink races down the stairs when she hears me. "Hey Winko!" I greet her trying to sound cheerful "you good fluffy?"
She meows and leads me to the kitchen for food. Then mum comes from in the living room and leans on the door frame. "Uhh. Hi mum." I say, trying to act casual.
"So how did today go? Anything happen?" She says
"Well yeah doesn't it always." I say grumpily.
"Don't talk to me like that."
"How am I supposed to talk then? In French!" When I get angry, it always ends rough. "Well au revoir then!" I sprint up the stairs before she can say anything else.
What did I say, it always ends rough. Then I get a text from Bria;
Bria: Hey Em, I'm around where you live tonight wanna hang? Or are you grounded😒
Me: No not yet but I probably will be. Gtg mum will kill me if she finds me just on my phone
Bria: Kk cya tomorrow? tbh it's raining a bit so I might just go home. Tell me about the insufferable RTL tomorrow😘
I'm glad that I have a friend like Bria, she's always there for me even though I'm not for her cause I'm always in isolation.
