Before I explain this story, those people who have read my other stories as probably wondering why I'm writing over 3 books at the same time. Well, this one was a small chapter series which i wanted to make, since it seemed fun. So, this is a story of a girl who joins this luxury boarding school. She finds friends, enemies and some friendships grow into something that's maybe more. This is a story of The New Girl.
Cassie POV
We decided to go inside the cottage, or whatever it was for the rest of the day, to figure out what the maps meant. The scrolls ,ugh. Of course me and Fitz had the same scroll, of course we had to go to the same place, because the world just hated me. my friends seemed to know about how I felt for him, the thing is, I didn't know how I felt for him.
He was just in front of me as i reached the door, and he held it open, bowing down like a gentleman. I swatted his arm, trying to hide my blush, before walking inside. I immediately called dibs on the room that was facing east. It had a beautiful view of the forest and the sunlight was peaking through the leaves.
"So, the scrolls, what do you think they mean?" Connor asked, when we all met at the dining table. This place was easy to get used to, and very pretty.
I stared at the scrolls, then my vision went green. I felt my mouth open and I spoke in a voice that was not mine, old and raspy, yet prophetic.
"The power of night shall fall over the land
To finally bring the hero's last stand
An oath on the Styx
A god's last breath
Awakens the goddess
The mother of death
Six stones together
Through ups and downs
Unlock the path
To the lost crowns"
I blinked and the world went back to normal. Everyone was staring at me.
"What?" i asked, though I knew. They explained how green smoke had emerged from my mouth, and I had recited the lines in an unearthly voice.
'Do you remember what I said?" I asked. They all shook their heads. I ran to my room, and grabbed a notebook and open from the drawers. How did I know that was there. Then I rushed right back to the table. I closed my eyes, and the words once again came to me. I wrote them down.
"What's a Styx?" Mia asked.
'I know this", Maddie looked proud of herself. "isn't the Styx like an ancient Greek river. Swearing on the Styx is like an unbreakable vow. You die if you break your promise." I nodded, remembering this from books I had read.
"What does it mean 'mother of death'?" Fitz asked, peering over my shoulder. I tried not to squeak too loudly. No-one answered him though. Mother of death. Night. It rang a bell.
