Ever since she was born, Nalani has been attracted to the Forbidden Woods. It has been 12 years from the time she first learned to resist the feeling to now, but the pull is getting stronger and stronger, like a rope pulling her heart toward the deep dark forbidden woods of Harmony.
My best friend, Nalani, is crazy. "Arcelio" she said "I need to go in the woods". Yeah right. And get eaten alive. I really don't get why she would ever want to leave. This place is perfect, and out there is death. I know, deep down, that nothing ca stop her, but that doesn't mean I will stop trying. Every day, twice a day, we have a class together and I tell her "Do you still want to leave?" and every day, twice a day, she replies "Yes, Arcelio, yes I do." She is very stubborn, but not in a bad way. She is beautiful, too, with her long blonde wavy hair and her beautiful green eyes, a little dirt on her cheek, and scratches on her knees and hanks from climbing trees. Another thing about her, she is obsessed with nature. Being pulled to a deadly forest without any fear, climbing trees all the time, even talking to cactuses. She is crazy, but its probably her best quality and the thing I love most about her. I am very confused about my feelings, too, because instead of a forest pulling me, its Nalani that pulls me toward her. I think I am in love with her, but then I remind myself we are just best friends. It is very hard for me not to tell her this; it is the only secret I keep from her. We are best friends, after all, and tell each other everything. Well, almost everything.
