Chapter 4 of 4 - Journey to the underworld

For days I journeyed forward, unsure where I was going. Forward. Forward. Forward. I had been walking through the forest I had grown up in for three days, the wind giving me directions, the trees giving me food and shade, the sun giving me life, light, heat, and a calendar. I knew the dreaded moment would come any minute now. I had never ventured this far before, and suddenly, it came. The thing called desert. It really was desert. Not a tree in sight. I kept going, until I stepped on the sand. At once, the wind stopped blowing. The light murmur of the trees in the back of my head stooped. I had done. I really had. The forest life was over. Hot, I thought. Hot. Hot. Too hot. So hot I could barely think. I looked behind me, and saw the motherly green of the forest. Then I looked forward, to the hot, beige sand. this was it. I could turn back and let everyone die, or I could go forward, and be brave. ''No'' I said. ''No!!!'' I shouted again, not caring who could here me. I walked forward, energizes by the feeling in my blood. This place had raised me, now it was time to return the favor. For three more days, I walked, drinking the little water I had, and eating little lizards, but only when I was extremely starving. Then, I ran out of water, but I kept on going. Nothing could stop me, I thought. Then, I heard something. A sand storm. What was the wind doing??? I tried something I never had tried before. I tried to control it. Stop!!! My brain screamed. To my surprise, the wind slowed down a bit, but it would not stop. Then I felt something else. Someone was pushing my command away "Go'' I heard a voice say ''keep going'' The wind got stronger, and I ordered it to stop again, and again, and again. I was growing weaker with every second. In a last desperate effort, I gave all the energy I had left ''Stop!!!'' I screamed, my voice echoing in my mind. At last, I felt defeated, empty. Then, everything went dark.
