Chapter 1 of 4 - Discovery

Sabrina slammed her locker closed and ran out the school door. Teachers were shouting after her, so were students. Tears stung her eyes as she ran down the sidewalk by the parking lot. Throwing her books on the ground, she disappeared. Appearing again in the woods, Sabrina kept running into the darkness of the Grove. She came upon a fallen log and immediately sat down and cried. As she sat in the darkening forest, she heard footsteps coming toward her. "Mother, let me be!" Sabrina shouted. "When a person is coming toward you, remember not to speak to them until you can see them. People will learn that you have such a power as this witchcraft you do." Her mother said as she came from behind the trees. "Just let me alone!" Sabrina shouted back. Veins of red and black began growing on her face. "Sabrina, keep your peace. I'm just trying to help you. You know you need it." Her mother said. Sabrina's face continued to turn black. "I said let me be! Or do you want me to make you?" Sabrina lashed out. "Sabrina! How dare you!" "How dare I? You let me be or I'll, I'll, I'll hurt you!" "Sabrina Charlotte! You hold your tongue!" Her mother yelled loudly. Sabrina's face was pure black now and her hair was shades of red. She stood up and shouted in her mother's face, "I told you to let me be!" Sabrina said as she stuck out her hand to her mother's wrist and squeezed tightly as her mother screamed. Sabrina looked into her eyes with a stiff face, almost soulless, as her mother disappeared into a black spiral and left only black ash on the forest floor. Now hidden in the darkness, Sabrina sat down silently before the ash. She sat there for hours, quietly exploring the limits of her mind. Wandering through the nooks and crannies of her own darkness, wishing her heart wasn't so confused. Wishing her soul wasn't so dark.
