A kitten. I was sleeping. The kitten was an adorable one with amber eyes and black fur.
"Miaow"
I let my hand run through its soft fur. It purred softly and started licking my hands. I looked ahead of me to see the garage standing properly in its correct place, with no footprints and no one staring at me behind the carousel. I had unknowingly drifted off to sleep and had a nightmare, I tried saying to myself. But it didn't work. That was one of the perks of being a gatekeeper. You had visions that always came true. My heart raced as I focused my eyes on the white sheet, not blinking, hoping that I could change destiny's path, but... There were two people behind the carousel. As I took my eyes off of them, there were footprints in the snow. I ran back inside and shut the door, determined to keep my life. The cat looked at me and started creating a ruckus. I calmed it by petting it but it didn't work.
"BAM! BAM! BAM!"
I dialed Daniel's number, my eyes switching back and forth between the landline phone and the rickety garage.
"BAM! BAM! BAM!"
"Pick the phone, dammit!"
"SMASH!"
I stood paralyzed in that spot. My green eyes were on the leather mascot that had broken out from its confines. It turned its head to stare at me, worms coming out from its ears and nose. It limped towards me, blood flowing from its body into the snow, leaving a red streak at the entrance of the amusement park.
"Help me"
I was surprised. Did it just say-
"Please help me"
"Who are you?"
"Anthony"
My eyes widened. That boy's dead body lying in the middle of the road, His parent's eyes staring with a glassy glare. His name flashed across all the major newspapers. Anthony Volesky.
