Remembering her plans for today, Pearl woke up early the next morning. She quickly packed her bag and went straight to the front desk.
“My, Pearl!” the woman at the front desk said, “You're up early, is Chloe with you?”
“No, she's still asleep.” Pearl answered, “Hey, do you keep record of the people who use the dorm rooms?”
“Umm… Why do you want to know?”
“I found something suspicious in my room, and I thought you guys might know something about it.”
“Tell me about it and well see what we can do.”
Back at the dorm, a group of investigators went into the hole
“Listen here girls,” the director was talking to Chloe and Pearl, “we will go investigate that hole but you two stay out of it!”
“Ok.”
Pearl waited a few minutes until they had gone a good way in, then lowered herself into the hole.
“What are you doing? They told us to stay!” Chloe was surprised but had to admit to herself that it was expectable of Pearl to go there eventually.
“I don't know about you, but I want to know what's in here.”
“The team will be back soon, they can tell us all about it then.”
Pearl responded, “So you can stay then.” and started walking down the tunnel.
“Pearl no…"
Chloe waited a couple of seconds to see if Pearl would change her mind, but she just kept going.
Eventually Chloe lowered herself down as well and went to her.
“We shouldn't be here!” Chloe said.
“No, we shouldn't.”
“I— Uhh. Well go a few minutes and if we don't find anything that's that.”
They got lost before a minute was up.
“Pearl? Where are we going now??”
“Towards the light.”
“The light?” Chloe looked around and saw what Pearl was talking about.
When they reached it, they realized that it was a laboratory. There were many screens and holograms.
Pearl was fascinated by one screen which showed numerous failed attempts at taking down the zoo. It also confirmed that the food shortage is an ongoing attempt.
“Hey Pearl, check this out.”
“What?”
“I can shut down the operation from here!”
“Really?”
“Yeah! I just need to figure out what the offset for the—"
Before she could finish her sentence, two hidden pillars in the ground blasted upwards and pinned her and Pearl against the celling. Out of nowhere, a man appeared.
