This is the story Confidence told from Aubrey's perspective. Aubrey must learn that life long friendships are hard to find, and even harder to keep, will she keep all of her friends through their struggles.
For the next 4 weeks Roxie didn´t tell anyone about her dad.
For the next 4 weeks Tony sat with Olivia.
For the next 4 weeks I said nothing of my crush on Tony.
For the next 4 weeks nobody mentioned Tony.
And then it changed.
That day Malia didn´t sit with us, I don´t know why, but I saw her in Math.
Caroline kept talking about Olivia and Tony.
¨I really think Tony likes Olivia.¨ she says, and he better not, I like him more than Olivia.
¨Do you think that Olivia likes Tony?¨, nobody answers her, we all just eat our lunch in silence.
I look over at Olivia and Olivia keeps picking at her elbow.
I new something was up, but what?
The next morning Olivia met me outside my locker.
¨Can I ask you something?¨ she said.
¨Ask away.¨ I say
¨Yesterday Tony told me that he likes me a lot and that he thinks I´m pretty, what should I say?¨, no, anything but that question, I have a crush on him, what can I say without giving it away but also not getting Olivia into him.
¨Say whatever you feel.¨ I reach out and grasp her hand, well played Aubrey, well played.
¨I don´t know what I feel, he doesn´t have anywhere else to sit, and if I say I don´t then he won´t want to sit with me.¨ she sighs. Really, what should I say now.
¨What did your parents say?¨ I ask. Keeping my opinion out of this.
¨You know I didn´t tell them.¨
I say what a good friend would say, not a girl who has a crush on a guy who has a crush on their best friend. ¨I think you like him, and you should tell him.¨ she nods.
