Chapter 3 of 9 - Breakfast

I sit down and get myself some Froot Loops. David toddles over with a quarter full jug of milk, almost dropping it as he passes Liam. “You're getting a strong, little man,” I say as David hands the milk to me. I pour some into my cereal. “It's eight-thirty!”Liam says. I gobble up the rest of my breakfast. “God, I have to go!”I exclaimed, dropping my dirty dishes into the sink. I grab my new Elwood Middle School backpack that Aunt Shirley gave me, and go down three flights of stairs, heading for the front door. I walk to the Ivy Cafe, across the street from the mansion. There are many Ivy Cafes in the city. My mom happens to be the assistant manager of this particular one. I pop my head in. Mom notices me out of the corner of her eye. “Hi, sweetheart!” my mom says, wiping down one of the tables. “Hi,” I say. I step inside, inhaling the mocha scent. “Can I have a chocolate croissant?”I ask. “Why do you want one?” she says wearily. “David spilled my food, so I'm hungry.”I lied. I lie to my mom at least five times every day. BUT, when it comes to those chocolate croissants, I will lie as many times as necessary. “Okay,” she says, barely looking up. I sneak behind the counter, waving to my mom's friend, Cheryl, who works the register. I slide open the glass case, and a welcoming chocolatey scent fills my nostrils. I grab the croissant, ask Cheryl for a paper bag, stuff the croissant into the paper bag, and dash out the door.
