Maddie Boone is a 15-year-old reporter for the local newspaper. Her dream is to write for a big newspaper or magazine, everyone will know Maddie's name. When a tornado hits Maddie's town, tragic things start to happen, and her life is starting to fall apart. Can Maddie act fast and do what she needs to do, or will her life crumble and eventually shatter?
"Attention everyone!" The diner owner, Tomas yelled.
"The mayor has asked me to turn on the news in the diner, and for you all to watch. Thank you!"
"I wonder what's wrong," Abbie said with a worried expression on her face.
"I'm sure it's fine," Maddie said, taking a bite of the waffle.
"Hello, this is John Silverman on Channel 5 news. We have to inform you that a tornado might be coming towards the Plantana County (which Chesterfield was in). We advise you to build or stay in sheltering places in your home Wednesday afternoon. School may be cancelled on Wednesday, but more info will be coming later this week. Stay safe Plantana County. This is John Silverman, signing off."
Tomas muted the news again, and the diner "un-paused."
"Oh gosh! Do you think that a tornado is coming?" Abbie asked, biting her nails.
"Please Abbie, there won't be a tornado," Maddie said.
"How do you know?"
"That news channel is always wrong. Seriously. They said it would snow at least once last year, and nothing!"
"True. I guess I shouldn't worry."
"You shouldn't! Now let's finish this pancake then we'll go to my house, how does that sound?"
"Sure, I bet you I will eat more of this waffle!"
"I'm already eating!"
And the girls had their "Waffle Eating Contest." Haha!
