Kialla and her grandma live in London in the year 4020. The Supremacies rule how everyone lives and everyday is the same. Kialla is forced to take a drastic turn in life when she is sent somewhere owned by The Supremacies. She is determined to make life fair for everyone that is under The Supremacies' rules so they don't have to go through what she did.

I am sleeping soundly for the first time in quite a while when the Sirens call and I unplug the energy cable from my chest. Grandma is already up with her hood on and hands me mine. “Happy birthday grandma!” I say through my hood, but she doesn't respond.. Then I remember that the hoods are sound proof. I think the new drink cylinders that The Supremacies have installed are infected with some sort of memory-loss bacteria, hence why I'm having trouble remembering things recently.
She types in the door code and we scramble through the alleys away from our house, number 8409. It always surprises me how grandma can run and jump so fast, 85 years of experience, I suppose. I can feel the acid rain burning holes into my clothes. The prickling sensation of it on my skin distracts me from the flashing lights of The Supremacy's Zeppelins progressing above us. I'm glad that the hoods are scent-proof as well as sound proof, because if they weren't my nose would've stopped working quite a while ago.
When we arrive at The Supremacy SemiZone and the security say we can take our hoods off, I have my chance to tell grandma “happy birthday grandma, I'm sorry this is how your birthday has to be.” Before they rush us all to the reviewing room.
“It's alright dear, we wouldn't be able to celebrate anyway. No need to apologize.” Grandma looks concerned..
