Chapter 13 of 16 - Help

Ten minutes later, Mr. and Mrs. Martin pulled up in front of the sidewalk where Martha was waiting with the twins. Martha, Peggy, Nora and Bridget got in Mrs. Martin's car and Frannie, Louise, Jacob and Henry got in the car with Mr. Martin. "Is the Mayor going to help us?" Peggy asked as Mrs. Martin drove down the road. "Yes, Peggy, I'm sure they're going to help us," she said. Bridget saw the doubt in Joann's eyes as she answered the question, but she remained silent about it for her sister, and Nora's sake. "Are you really really really sure?" Peggy asked again. "Peggy..." Martha started to say, but Joann cut her off. "It's alright, Martha, dear. Yes, Peggy, I'm really really really sure they'll help us." "Promise?" Mrs. Martin laughed. "Yes." ****** "Do you really expect me to believe that you were taken captive by an evil witch who has a secret layer underneath our town that she can open up at any given moment?" The mayor shouted, bringing his hand down on the table with a loud smack! "That is absolutely absurd!" "Yes we expect you to believe this!" Nora cried. "Because it happened!" The Mayor shook his head. "You're all crazy. One crazy family." "The three of us aren't even related to them," Martha said, motioning towards the Martins. "And I'm not related to anyone here," Nora added. "I was sucked inside a book and ended up here!" She immediately shut her mouth afterward, realizing that what she said just made them sound more crazy and wasn't helping. "I don't believe you," The Mayor said dismissively. "Becky, call a car to take these people to a hospital. There not well." "What?" Bridget cried. "No! You can't take us to a hospital! We need to find our father! We don't know where he is at all!" "I'm done with this nonsense! Becky get these people away from me!" "Wait stop!" A boy's voice cried. Everyone turned and looked at a teenage boy with short curly hair that was walking towards them. "I believe you," he said. "And I have proof."
