Once we fell into the portal that Melanie made, we fell through this white void that I guess was supposedly inside the portal. Then I saw something at the end of the void. Once we got to it, I realized that we were going to fall from the sky. And sure enough, we fell from the sky and I saw the ground a few hundred feet below us. At first, I thought we were gonna die from falling from a big height and hitting the ground. But when we hit the ground, we didn't die for some reason. It actually didn't hurt one bit when we hit the ground.
Once I recovered from the shock of what just happened, I scoped out the area. We were in the middle of the desert. The sand was thick, and there wasn't anything but that. It was just a bunch of sand, and some sand dunes occasionally. It also was daytime, so that shows that we were surely on the other side of the world.
I continued to scope out the area, and I saw Melanie standing on top of one of the sand dunes. As soon as I noticed her, I ran towards her. I ran up the hill of sand and stopped next to her.
When I thought about what I was going to say, I realized that I didn't even have a clue about what just happened. Then I realized I didn't know exactly what to ask, so I just said-
"Melanie, one question. What the f*ck just happened?!", I asked.
She didn't answer me and continued to look at the sunrise.
When she didn't answer me, I thought she mustn't have heard me or something.
"Helllloooo", I said as I waved my hand in front of her face.
Then she grabbed my wrist and looked at me.
It actually kind of hurt, because she has a strong grip.
Then she let go of my wrist,
"The only way to answer that question is a long story. And I'm not gonna tell you that story because you're not ready yet", she said as she looked me in the eyes deeply.
I looked at her with an expression of confusion in my face.
Then she let go of my wrist and started walking back down the sand dune.
I thought about what she said for a second, then I hurried to catch up to her.
"What do you mean? Not ready for what?", I asked once I caught up to her.
"You'll see later, so shut up and do what I say", she said firmly.
We eventually got to the bottom of the sand dune.
Noah looked at us when he noticed us.
Once we got to Noah, he stood up and looked down at Melanie.
"Why in the world did you bring us here?", he said with a bit of anger in his voice.
Then Melanie clenched her fists.
"You should be more grateful. Because I saved your ass back there, and if I wasn't there you probably would've burned on top of that roof", she replied with some comeback in her voice.
Noah continued to look at her angrily.
That's when I jumped in.
"Yeah, Melanie, we're grateful for that. But, why did you actually bring us here though?", I asked with the hope of not making her angry at me.
She looked at me for a few seconds.
"I brought us here because this is the closest place to our destination", she replied.
I looked at her, confused again.
"I'm sorry I'm confused. We have a destination? When did we have a place to go?", I asked.
She rolled her eyes at me and sighed.
"I'm sorry, let me rephrase that. This is the place closest to where a friend of mine lives. So do you want to go to them, or do you want to stay out in the middle of the Arabian desert? It's your choice, but I definitely would want to take the first option", she said with a bit of annoyance in her voice.
I looked at Noah, who looked back at me and widened his eyes and looked at her then back at me again.
I looked back at Melanie
"I guess we'll go to your friend's", I said as I looked at the ground.
"Alright, let's go", she said as she started walking off.
We watched her walk off. Noah and I looked at each other with confusion in our faces.
After noticing that we weren't following her, she stopped and looked back at us.
"What happened, did you change your minds?", she asked.
I shook my head.
"I'm just confused, if you could create portals and crazy sh*t like that, then why aren't we using that to get there?", I asked.
"My powers have limitations ok? Now, chop-chop! Let's go!", she said.
Noah and I looked at each other again and hurried to follow her.
?:??, November 4, 1995
I don't know how long we walked for or what time it ever was, but all I know is that we walked for a couple of hours at least. Noah kept complaining about how thirsty he was, and that we need to stop for a little bit.
Melanie kept declining for a while, until she got sick of it.
"Please!! Could you stop complaining?! We're only 5 minutes away!", she shouted.
Noah sighed.
Then we continued walking, and sure enough, after about what felt like 5 minutes I saw a building off in the distance.
It looked as if it was a one-house neighborhood in the middle of nowhere. Although it was just one house, it still was bigger than I expected.
Eventually, we got to the house.
Once we got to the door, Melanie knocked on it, and a few seconds later a girl about 16-years-old opened it.
She had brown hair, blue hazel eyes and was about my height. She was wearing a red scarf, a white form-fitting shirt, and black skinny jeans.
"Melanie?", she asked with a sounding of slight familiarity in her voice.
"Hey Penelope", Melanie replied with a smile.
"Oh my gosh! Melanie!", she screamed excitedly as she hugged her.
"It's been a really long time!", Penelope stated as she looked at me and Noah.
"Yeah, it has", Melanie replied as they stopped hugging.
"Who are they?", Penelope asked as she looked at Melanie and back at us.
"Oh, these are my friends-"
"-Acquaintances", Noah interrupted rudely.
Melanie looked at him blankly.
Then I looked at him angrily and punched his arm.
He looked at me and gave me a gesture of confusion.
Then he looked back at Penelope and extended his hand out to her.
"I'm Noah", he said.
Penelope shook his hand lightly.
I did the same and introduced myself.
Then she looked back at Melanie.
"But, why did you bring them here?", she asked.
Melanie hesitated.
"Well...it's a long story. We just need a place to stay for the night", she replied.
Penelope stared at her for a second.
"Ok, but you'll have to talk to Mama though", Penelope replied.
"Ok", she replied.
"C'mon in", she said as she walked back inside the house.
Melanie followed her inside.
Noah and I looked at each other.
Then Noah and I walked in.
