Chapter 4 of 14 - Conflict

5:00 A.M I spent the whole early morning looking for which building, and which room we were staying in. I eventually found the building, and walked up the stairs to our room. I relied solely on instinct and a small memory of where we went to get to our room. But I eventually got to it. I pounded on the door 3 times and waited for Noah to open the door. But Noah never opened it, I assumed that he could hear me, but decided to be an asshole like he always is. So I curled into a ball outside our door and slept there for the rest of the morning. 8:00 A.M It was wake up time, and my day didn't start off so great. I was still sleeping outside the door, and these kids thought it would be funny to wake me up by pouring ice-cold water on me. So I had to try and dry myself off with toilet paper in the bathroom; which took forever because the line was so long in the morning. 9:00 A.M I went down to eat breakfast. I had a hard time finding where they served breakfast at first, but I eventually found it by following all the kids into the big building all the way in the back of the orphanage. When I got my breakfast, I saw Noah sitting in the back corner, eating alone. Angrily, I walked over and sat down next to him. He waited a few seconds before he started talking. "Where were you last night?", he asked in a low, confrontational voice. "I couldn't go back to sleep, so I decided to get some air", I replied. "And you never thought you should let me know?", he asked in a slightly more raised voice. "Are you kidding me? You always are super mad at me whenever I wake you up in the middle of the night, and now you're saying that I should've woke you up?!", I yelled a little louder. Noah didn't reply to me. "And also, I tried to get you to let me in! But you decided to be a little b-tch and not open the door", I added, also now yelling. "Hey!! Watch how you speak to me you stupid prune!!", Noah replied, yelling now too. "No, you!" "Oh yeah?!" "Yeah?" "You really want to -uck with me right now?" "Stop trying to act tough you show-off!" "Really? Let's go right now then if you think you're so good!!" "Bet!!" "Bet!!" "--Hey guys!", a voice said. We both looked behind us and saw Melanie. "What? What do you want?", Noah asked angrily. "You know everyone is looking at you right?", Melanie said quietly. We looked at around, and sure enough, everyone was silent. They all were just sitting there, staring at us. Then out of the blue, someone shouted: "C'mon kick his ass big guy!!" "Yeah! Do it!", some other boy shouted. "Fight, Fight, Fight, Fight!!", the boy started chanting. Everyone else in the cafeteria was soon after. Kids were getting out of their seats and made a circle around us. Melanie looked back at us. "C'mon guys, don't", Melanie told us. Then the two kids who started it all came over to us and pulled us out of our seats and into the middle of the circle. Noah and I looked at each other, not knowing what to do. We obviously couldn't fight each other, because we're brothers. Then the kids came over to me, and started telling me to punch him. "Do it! C'mon", he said as he started giving me small pushes. He kept telling me to do it, giving me harder pushes every time. Eventually, he gave me a hard enough push that almost made me fall over. "Hey kid stop!", Noah told the kid. "Oh, so now your defending him?", the boy replied. Noah gave him a "Whatever" look back. "You're such a scaredy-cat!", the boy told me. "And you're gonna listen to us, and we told you, do it!", the boy said as he punched me in the face. Whenever someone punches me, that's when I lose my cool. And that's when I did something I'm not proud of. The next thing I knew, the kid was on the ground, crying. Everyone looked at me in shock, even Noah. Then someone said: "He punched a kid younger than him, let's beat him up!" Then everyone started yelling and started punching me, as if I started WW3 or something. Then it came to the point where one kid accidentally punched another, and then they punched them back and ran into another. And within a minute, it was a total war-zone. I guess Melanie had enough, so she decided to put a stop to it. "ENOUGH!!", Melanie shouted. Way louder than I've ever heard anyone yell. Everyone stopped and looked at her. "We all need to stop!!! We're being extremely immature right now! So, for God's sake, just stop!!!" "Why would we ever listen to you?", the boy I punched said. She didn't reply. "Also, why are you here? Don't you have parents you live with?" She still didn't say anything. "Ohhhh, I think I know why you're here!" She then looked down at the ground. "Your parents didn't love you, and they wanted to get rid of you" "Shut up!", she demanded. "Yeah guys, just leave her alone!" I said. "Oh, sticking up for her now? You like her?", the boy asked. I didn't reply because I was kinda embarrassed about it. "Yeah, don't say anything back, because we all now know it's true!" "Leave him alone Todd", Melanie told him. Todd gasped. "Awwww, you two like each other! So sweet!" "We don't like each other Todd, we're just friends!" "That's what they all say", Todd chuckled. "Todd, just leave us alone, ok?!", Melanie replied. "Alright, we will! But just stay away from me, and my friends!" "Same for you as well", I added. Todd and his friends looked at Melanie, Noah, and me. Then they walked away like they owned the place. From what I can tell, this is going to be a long few years here.
