Chapter 4 of 14 - Plans

Benicio set up a map of Toon Town and placed it on the table. He got out another piece of paper and a pen. "A'ight. You know this '(Y/N)', right? What makes you think you can persuade her to take our side." Abel glanced at the map and tapped his fingers on the table. "I haven't seen her in a while. She probably misses me a lot which means she's most likely to accept than decline the offer." "What offer are you going to give her." "I told her that I joined an agency, but she had to keep quiet. We used to play around a lot about these kinds of things. If we tell her it's part of an agency thing, then she has the choice to join our team or stay at her boring job as a bartender." Benicio thought for a second. "What if she likes her job and doesn't want to leave?" He said, examining the map and drawing lines to and from the casino and your place. "She loves adventure. If she had a chance to have the time of her life, she would take it." Abel watched as Benicio found routes around Toon Town underground where he and his team found a secret hideout. "She sounds interesting," Benicio whispered, teasing Abel. "Eh, keep your filthy paws off her, demon." Benicio laughed and lightly punched Abel in the shoulder. "I'm just messin' round, big shot." Abel grinned and clenched his fist. "Ha, ya better be." Benicio glanced at the time. "It's a little late to be pullin' your own strings now is it." Benicio laughed. It was close to about twelve-thirty. "Stop messin' round, Bendy. It is too late for this." . .. ... .. . Somethin' about the plan just didn't seem right. I thought about it again. Maybe if I started a conversation things won't be so confusing. "You said the girl liked adventures. How come you can't tell her the truth about what we're tryna achieve here?" Abel looked at me sideways. He probably thinks I'm stupid. "Because she isn't a bad guy, Benicio. She would consider us as bad guys. It's like chasing after a superhero on the run if she knew." That should've been obvious. I need to keep my head on straight. Some sleep should help. "Here's the deal, bud, we should take a good night's rest and talk it over in the mornin'. We have all the time in the world at this point." Abel stood up and straightened his collar. "Not all the time, but I think that's a good idea. Some sleep should put your head back on your shoulders." I smiled and rolled the map up. I got up and put the material away. "See ya tomorrow, Abel. Don't try to worry about her too much." I patted his back, grabbed my jacket and walked out of the small shed. "I could say the same for you, Benicio," Abel replied. I stopped and turned around to look at the angel. "See ya tomorrow." He said, walked out the shed, took a leap, and flew away. I didn't reply. I didn't have enough time to. 'He's a mysterious little angel,' I thought to myself. . .. ... .. . Benicio walked down the street and into the woods. He went through a patch of bramble leading to an old abandoned boxcar. He slid open the door and flung his jacket over his shoulder. Something started to poke his arm. It stung a little as he felt around to find the thorn. 'Why did it have to be bramble, Axel.' He closed the entrance and searched through his pocket to find a match. He pulled it out and scrapped it against the desk in the corner of the boxcar. The light was dim but it was just enough to see around the area. 'Now, where is that trap door...' Benicio looked down to try and find the shiny, silver handle. He saw something flash in the corner of his eye and turned around. 'There it is.' He opened the door to reveal a dark pit in the ground. He climbed down the hole into the dark abyss. There was a gap between the ladder and the floor. He jumped down and brushed off the dust from his white shirt. The area was dark and cold but he continued to walk down the tunnel, leading to a door. He pulled out a key from his pocket and unlocked the door. The door creaked then swung open and shut behind him as he walked in. "Axel! Boris! Get your sorry tails down here, ya hear me?!" Benicio heard the pitter-patter of a running man, or angel, on the upper level. A strange-looking angel came bounding down the hall. "I'm here! I'm here..." he said, trying to catch his breath, then slowly walked over. Benicio waited until Axel had finally got there. "Where's Boris?" "I think he's still out." Axel heaved. "Out? Where did he go?" "He said something about the fresh air." "Of course." Benicio sighed. Axel pulled down his shirt and ran his hand through his hair. "So, what did you need us-... me for?" Benicio put his jacket on the coat rack. "We had an incident during our heist. When we left with the precious ink there was this girl who saw the chase. I mean, who's never succeeded without a good cop chase, right? Well, she witnessed it all. Supposedly, Abel knows her very well, which isn't a good thing." Axel stood there, eyes wide open. "Did we get caught?!" Axel shrieked. "No, stupid! We both wouldn't be here if we did!" Benicio rolled his eyes. "Well, I mean you did stop for no reason," Axel said with a snotty tone. "I had to save you. Me! had to save YOU! It's funny really." He crossed his arms and grinned. Benicio heard the doorknob hit the wall as the door swung open. "So, you finally decided to join us, Boris." Axel's face went blank. Benicio got confused. He turned around to see what Axel was so surprised about. It was Boris, but he brought something along with him. A gash in his chest. . .. ... .. .
