Chapter 11 of 14 - The Gala

It's almost time for the gala, my mind is somewhere else, right now. I know I'm supposed to go for business reasons, but I know that I'm going to be in a heap of trouble somewhere along the way, I always am. After that note I got from Moon, I don't even know what to expect anymore. Alice is like a sister to me. If she gets hurt, then there would be no one to blame but myself. It's my job to protect her, but it seems like I'm not doing anything to do so. Curse Joey, if it weren't for him, we wouldn't even be in this situation. I should have killed him when I had the chance. But, let's not think about this, right now. (Y/N) is going to the dance with me, so I don't want to trouble her too much. I wonder what she's going to wear tonight! I can't wait. What if I start to worry? Every time I'm around her, my heart starts to flutter. I don't know how things are going to turn out. What if we don't pay attention to the task at hand? And about Mr. Moon, how am I supposed to stick by (Y/N) if I have to speak with him privately? I'll just wait and see what happens. Besides, Abel will be there, too. He wouldn't get into any trouble, I'm sure. Moon will probably take a few minutes, at most, unless he wants my help for something, in this case, he might need it. Well, Axel should be here with Boris, soon. I should get ready. . .. ... .. . Benicio lifted himself out of the chair and tucked it back under the desk. He found his suit neatly lying on his bed, waiting to be worn. The suit was a fancy, black tuxedo with a white, button-down shirt. It came with a dainty red bowtie sitting directly on top of the folded tux. Benicio wore black pants to match the shiny black and white moccasins he bought. He took his gloves off the desk and slipped them on his hands. He buckled his sleeves and straightened his collar. Someone knocked on the door three times before entering. "You have visitors, Mr. Drew," Charles stated, opening the door to let Benicio out. "Thank you, Charles. Could you bring down refreshments for our guests?" Benicio asked politely, walking out the door hastily. "Of course, sir," Charles replied. Benicio quickly bounded down the stairs and walked up to the door. He looked through the little slit and opened the door, "Eh, Boris! How do you feel ol' chap?" Benicio said, holding onto Boris's shoulder. "I'm doin' just fine, Ben. Axel drove me over," Boris replied, pointing behind him, revealing an old, black car, "So I heard about a new member in our gang, eh Benicio?" he chuckled, walking inside, Axel trailing behind him. "Yep, we're going to Mr. and Mrs. Mendals gala tonight. Mr. Moon himself will be attending, so we're going to make sure he doesn't do anything he shouldn't be," Benicio replied, closing the door behind Axel. "That's good, you're looking fresh, by the way," Boris said. "Ha, thanks, buddy. Are you coming with us?" "Not today, I'm still a little stunned." "I understand, you take as much time as you need. Make yourself at home! My home is yours." "Thank you, Benicio." Boris thanked him, coughing a little. Benicio leads Boris to the living room upstairs, trying not to make him stumble. They entered a room with a fireplace and a few chairs. The carpet was soft and colorful. The room was spacious, there were a few desks here and there but it was still a very nice room. Benicio set Boris in a chair next to the fireplace where the warm fire glowed, "There you go, bud. Axel and Charles will be here when you need them, all you have to do is call," Benicio stated, holding Boris's hand. . .. ... .. . Abel and (Y/N) knocked on the door, I didn't know what to do. I quickly opened the door and stared in awe. (Y/N) looked beautiful. Her hair was wavy and slick. She wore a nice red dress that made her eyes pop with energy! She had long, white gloves that ran up her arms, perfectly. She smelled like jasmine and pure happiness. I could feel my heart melting at the sight. Abel stood there waiting for me to let them in, "So, uh, Benicio, Is there any possible way you could, you know, let us in?" Abel said, staring up at the sky. "Yeah, sorry, come in!" I retorted letting them in. I 'accidentally' elbowed Abel in the shoulder, giving him a cold glare. He got the point. Abel smirked and brushed his wing against my chin. Wait until I get my hands on that angel. He makes me want to rip his wings off myself. I took a deep breath and closed the door, walking over to Charles, "Keep an eye on Boris for me. Axel will accompany you," I said. Charles nodded and placed the drinks on the table in the next room. "Benicio, your place is gorgeous! I'm utterly stunned!" (Y/N) said with a twirl. 'Not as gorgeous as you,' I thought to myself. The light against her skin made her look like a gleaming star. "I think it's time to go," Abel said, fluttering his wings. "Agreed, are you ready, (Y/N)?" I asked. I couldn't tell if I was blushing or not, but I didn't care. "Yes, we can go," she replied. She held my arm as we all left for the gala. We all got in my car were on our way. . .. ... .. . They arrived at Mr. and Mrs. Mendal's mansion for the gala. Benicio got out and opened the car door for (Y/N). "Thank you, Benicio," she said, walking with Abel towards the entrance. Two guards were at the door checking invitations. "Abel, did you bring our invite?" Benicio whispered, trying not to look suspicious. "Yeah, as long as I have it, you guys will be able to enter," Abel replied. They came to the door and waited for Abel to show the guards their invite. The guard on the right approved and let them in. The room was full of elegant ladies and gentlemen. There were butlers all around the room handing out beverages and little food samples. "This place looks amazing!" (Y/N) said, looking around the area. "It is, isn't it," Abel replied, looking over at Benicio. Benicio grinned and looked away, trying to spot Moon. They strolled along the sides of the ballroom and stood in a corner of the room. "So, do any of you see Moon?" Abel said, trying to act natural. "What does he look like?" (Y/N) said curiously. "Well, he has a Moon shaped head with an ugly mouth on the left side of his face. Truly, it's not ugly, it's just very different," Abel replied, skimming the room, "There! He's chatting with Mr. Mendal next to the food table," he whispered, looking over to where Moon was. "Oh, so he's the one in the striped, white vest?" (Y/N) asked, trying to look over the crowd. "Yes ma'am, we don't want to get to close to him, though," Abel said, settling (Y/N) back on the ground. (Y/N) ducked her head and chuckled, "Sorry," she giggled, looking at all the pretty dresses. Benicio smirked at (Y/N) and looked over at Moon. Mr. Mendal said his goodbyes and went to go talk to other guests. Mr. Moon gazed at the crowd and made eye contact with Benicio. Moon looked away, gesturing that Benicio goes over there. Benicio kept his eyes on Moon and whispered to Abel and (Y/N), "I'll be right back."
