It has been four months since Skylar saved Mckenzie from the SHAP. As she nears summer, she looks forward to having no school, no responsibilities, just fun in the sun. But that all changes on the last day of school, someone has put a 85 million dollar reward on Skylar and McKenzie. Dead or alive. Now it seems that everyone is after her and they have no choice but to go into hiding, in a little town called Someweare.
Sinking, air. Where was the surface?
"Help!" I screamed.
But I wasted my breath, I kicked in the darkness, sinking in the water. Suddenly, everything felt numb, I felt the floor of lake. I gasped for air hoping just for a second I would breathe again. But it was pointless I was drowning again. I closed my eyes, hoping.
"You found us Nancy Drew." I gasped, and started swimming to the surface again. "You know to much now, don't you want to know how it all ends?"
Suddenly something wrapped around me and pulled me down again.
"It's time you see it all, Nancy Drew. Don't you want to see McKenzie?"
I squirmed and tried to break free.
"It's time Skylar."
The creature pulled me to the surface, I gasped for air coughing and spitting out water. I opened my eyes and saw a man standing on the edge of the dock, he grabbed my shirt, and pulled me out of the water. He threw me on the dock. I coughed, gasping for air, I looked up and saw him marching toward me. I looked up and it was a man dressed in all black, he was wearing a motorcycle helmet. I frantically crawled away, but ended up at the edge of the dock. He took a gun off of his holster, and pointed at me.
"Goodbye Skylar."
Then the gun went off, and I woke up screaming. I looked around to where I was, where was I? I heard footsteps come toward me, I used my powers and shot ice at whoever was there. But that didn't stop them, the door swung open and I jumped out of bed and hid on the other side.
"Skylar it's us, are you okay?" it was the director.
"I-I'm fine." I answered. "Where is Mac?"
"She hasn't checked in yet." he answered.
I frowned, and looked around the room. There were other agents, the director, and Mr. Jefferson, my supposed "therapist", the headmaster of the Super Human Academy, who was also Brainstorm.
"Where am I?" I asked.
"You are in the safe house I told you about." the Director answered. "I didn't want to wake you when we arrived."
I nodded. "Can I be alone please?" I asked. "I need some time to think."
"Of course," he answered. I watched them all leave the room, once they were all gone, I thought about the nightmare.
I hadn't had nightmares for months, but it felt so real. I flinched when I heard someone knock on the door.
I opened it, and saw a woman with red hair.
"Hello," she said gently. "My name is Claire I'll be your foster mom. I just wanted to make sure you're alright."
I felt a hole in the pit of my stomach.
"My... my.... what did you say?"
"We will be living together for the next few months." She explained softly. "Is there anything I can help you with? Anything at all?"
"If... you're my "foster mom" then who... who is supposed to my foster dad?" I asked softly.
"That would be my husband, Chris."
My knees started to feel weak.
"Chris Jefferson? The headmaster of the academy? Brainstorm?"
The woman nodded, "That's him."
I stopped and stared at her closely.
"You look very familiar." I said. Then it clicked. "You're the co-headmaster! You're Golden Fury!"
"You're a very perceptive girl Skylar, how Nancy Drew."
I gasped and felt my body shake. I closed my eyes and heard that terrible librarian's voice. "Nancy Drew found out."
"Don't call me that!" I said firmly. "Ever."
Then I slammed the door. .
