It is a story of girls who quite literally came back from the dead. Follow their journey as they explore the world of angels, as they seem to be part of that group.
On that very reassuring note, Silas shooed us out of the room.
"What now?" I asked.
"Well, if you are going to live here, we might as well give you a tour." Zane suggested. They took us back to the hall, and began their tour. They walked us through the long, beautiful corridors,
"The place is old," Zane was saying, " The original structure of the bricks is about 500 years old, and most of it was crumbled. But they remodeled the building about 2 decades ago..
We kept walking, and Phoenix was just telling us about how he would show us the kitchens.
I slapped my forehead and turned. "What?" Zane asked, completely startled.
"Eva!" I replied.
She was leaning against the wall, looking as green as her eyes . Her eyes were looking in my direction, but she didn't seem to be looking at me. I realised that she hadn't said a thing since we left Silas back in the ceremony room.
I wanted to hit myself for not noticing sooner. I felt that even if she wasn't looking so sick, she would still look distant. I ran to her side.
"Eva?" I asked, cautiously. She turned in the direction of my voice, but didn't seem to be able to see me. "Please." She whispered again. Her knees gave out. I was too stunned to catch her.
"No, please." She whimpered. "Sssshhh, calm down." I tried to use my charmspeak but I was too scared for it to work. Then Eva let out a strangled scream. She doubled over and started gasping for air. Her back arched and she again started making silent sobbing noises. Then she quieted down. She was still gasping though.
She fell down and her head hit the ground with a loud crack. Now I felt even more terrified. there didn't seem to be any blood, but she had blacked out completely.
Seconds felt like hours, minutes felt like days. Eva finally opened her eyes. There were hints of blue splashed across her pale green eyes. What had happened?
"Eva?" I asked again. I looked up to see both boys standing still, too shocked to react. "Do something!" I yelled at them. They shook their heads, and quickly jumped to help.
Phoenix looked around for water, and ran down the halls to get some. Zane simply stumbled over and grabbed Eva's shoulders, before yelling over his shoulder, "Phoenix, get the water already."
I was too terrified to be properly jealous. "No need for water." Eva whispered looking up at our faces. Just then Phoenix showed up with the water and poured the whole bottle on Eva's face.
"Urgh, what the hell Phoenix!" She shook her head, as though hoping to shake off the water. Then she ran her hand over her face, making the water disappear instantly. Phoenix looked sheepish, while Zane looked relieved.
"How do you feel?" He asked in a quiet voice. "I would say I'm fine, but my head feels like it's been banged up pretty bad. I'm currently really glad that there isn't a mirror here. I probably look a mess." She made a face. "You look fine." Zane said. Then his face turned red and he looked away. I helped Eva to her feet, and caught her as she swayed.
"Ya know," She said. "I would really like to go to my bed in my room right about now, so let's go there please." We walked down several similar hallways, before turning right onto a dead end.
There were two rooms there, facing each other. "That's Eva's," Phoenix said, indicating to the one on the right. "And that's Zellie's", He pointed to the one on the left.
I went into Eva's room first. It was absolutely gorgeous, with pale green and blue walls. The curtains were a shade of teal, and the desk was gold and black. The pillows, cupboards and covers were the same color as the desk, so it all tied together. I helped Eva sit down on her bed.
Zane said that he would stay with her and help her settle in, and neither me nor Eva was particularly pleased about that arrangement.
Phoenix followed me into my room and I gasped. It was a beautiful room, with gold and brown and grey furnishing. There were brass decoration pieces, and I could not help but fall in love with it immediately.
Just then, I heard a loud laugh from Eva's room. I walked in to see Eva gasping on her bed, and I wondered if she was having a fit. But then I realized that she was simply laughing.
I looked around to see Zane sitting on her chair, also laughing. "He did not do that!" Eva said, through a fit of giggles. "Yeah he did, he said that he was Lord Humphrington from Great Britain'', Zane gasped for air, still laughing.
"Um what?" I asked, confused and a little jealous. "Oh, hi Zellie and Lord Humph-" Eva couldn't even finish her sentence, and she doubled over, this time with laughter.
"You did not tell her'', Phoenix glared accusingly at Zane. "Sorry dude", Zane wasn't even trying to look sorry. Both he and Eva bust into giggles again.
"Ok, so well, how about we stop laughing, and figure out what to do'', I suggested, very annoyed now. Eva and Zane took a few seconds to compose themselves, and after they did, we went for a proper tour.
They first took us back to the Great Hall, and I decided that it looked a bit like a mix between Beauty and The Beast, and Titanic. The sky high walls and the impossibly high ceiling were both a vintage off-white. The drapings on the walls were red and gold, and there were sword crossed shields mounted on the walls.
There were hundreds of vases filled with roses of all the colors, pink, red, white, blue and even purple. "Hey, umm, is there a library here?" I asked. "Oh, yeah, it's right over there", Phoenix answered.
I was just about to suggest going there when Eva asked, "Is there a fighting arena too?" "Oh yeah, it's big, I think it has all types of swords, shields, arrows, bows%u2026" Zane said. "How about daggers and maces?" Eva asked, her interest apparently being sparked. "Yeah, we have all types of weapons, even lances", Zane answered, picking up on her excitement.
"Well how about, me and Zellie go to the library and you and Eva can go see the weapons," Phoenix suggested. Eva did not seem to be listening.
She had drifted to the side, and was currently studying a huge axe that was on the wall. We watched her stare at the weapon for a few moments, trying not to laugh at her quiet interest.
Then a random boy walked up to her. We could hear his voice, though we must have been out of earshot. He seemed to be telling Eva about the weapon. She nodded, still studying the weapon, though she did seem to be listening.
Then the guy said something about the weaponry, and put his arm around Eva. Zane yelled , "Hey!" and started forward.
But he had only advanced a few steps, when Eva grabbed the guy's hand and judo-flipped him over her shoulder. she put her foot on his stomach and growled, "I don't need a guy to help me. Now buzz off!"
She put her foot back onto the ground, and the guy scrambled to his feet, wincing, before running back to where he had come from. I laughed, and Eva made her way back to us, scowling at the retreating boy.
"Disgusting", she said, pretending to gag. "So," I said, before she ran after the boy again to teach him a lesson. "How's the plan, me and phoenix go to the library, you and Zane go to the weaponry?" I looked at Eva.
"Fine by me", she said, still glaring at the boy. "It's that way", Zane said, pointing down another hallway.
"Hey, are we allowed to borrow books from there, for a short read?" Eva asked. She liked to read almost as much as she liked to fight, but the fact that she was training to be a black belt, kind of didn't give her time to read much.
"Yeah, you can take any book you want", Phoenix answered. Eva's cheeks turned pink as Phoenix addressed her.
"Yeah, I'll bring back some books for you then Eva", I told her. "Thanks", she said, peeling her eyes away from Phoenix.
"C'mon", Zane said, leading Eva in the opposite direction. me and Phoenix made our way to the library. Soon, we stopped in front of a large set of double doors. the doors automatically opened as we reached them and I gasped.
It was a scene straight out of beauty and the beast, with the huge library. There was at least one copy of every book in the world, and each shelf was labeled with the different genres of books.
I had to refrain myself from squealing as I ran inside. Phoenix followed me with an amused expression on his face.
"So, how does the borrowing work?" I said, studying the shelves that were spread in front of me. "Take anything you like, as you finish the book, it will immediately disappear from your room, and appear on the right shelf." he said, but I had already started to fill a nearby wagon with books. "what's this one?" I asked, pointing at a book with the title 'Harry Potter'.
Phoenix stared at me in amazement. "What", I asked, glaring at him accusingly. "You're telling me that you've never read Harry Potter", he said, still looking amazed. "I died in the 1700's, this was not written back then", I protested.
"Take it, and this," he picked up a book named 'Percy Jackson', and put it into my wagon. In an hour, we had filled the whole wagon with books, most of which Phoenix suggested. As we were leaving, a guy in black came over.
"Hey Phoenix, who's this?" He asked. "Hey Josh, this is Zelenia Omen, Zellie, this is Joshua Logan", Phoenix introduced us.
"Hi", I said, holding out my hand. "He shook it saying, "You're the girl from the 1700's right?" he asked. "How did you know?", I asked, since it had been barely 2 hours since we arrived. "News travels fast", Josh shrugged, before walking away. Phoenix led me back to the hall.
A few seconds after we reached, Eva and Zane came back. Both of them looked amused, but I noticed a big bruise on Zane's cheek and a cut on Eva's arm. "What happened?" Phoenix asked, concerned. "We ran into Micheal and his gang", Zane answered.
"They hurt you?" Phoenix looked a little angry. "You should see them, Eva almost killed them", Zane laughed.
Just then a boy walked past in the background, he had multiple cuts all over his arms and face, and he looked at Eva, slightly terrified. "I'm assuming he's in the group?" I asked. "Oh, that's nothing, he ran away in a minute, you should see the rest of them", Eva said, smirking. Whatever happened, I was glad that I was not a part of it.
