Katy has just been admitted to high school! She is very excited and can't wait to make new friends! She meets three girls, Suzy, Alicia and Rose. Unfortunately, she gets bullied. Will she be able to resist the pain? Does Chris, the guy that she likes like her back?
The following days, Katy hung out a lot with her new friends. They went to the beach, talked, and made their homework together. Katy was very happy and satisfied with her life.
At school, there was a boy in her class called Chris, and she found out that she had a crush on him. Her school seemed fine, and she had nice teachers.
There was just one teacher that she didn't like a lot, Mr Grey, her English teacher. For some reason, he only asked her questions when she wasn't raising her hand, and he gave her bad grades when she thought she deserved better. It wasn't that bad, so she decided not to make a big deal out of it.
She thought that she had an amazing life.
On Thursday, as she came out of school, her parents called her to their room. She was kind of surprised but followed them.
Emily sighed. "We need to tell you something, Katy."
Katy was even more surprised and wondered what it was.
"Your dad will have to go to Paris for three months."
When Katy heard that, she was sad. Her family had had a very strong bond as long as she could remember, and three months was a very long time. She knew that she would miss him a lot, since the longest time she had ever missed any of her parents was for two weeks, when her mom had to visit her grandma in New York. She was also afraid for him, because Paris was all the way in Europe, and she didn't know if it was safe.
"I will have to go tomorrow." John continued. "I don't want to either, but if I don't go, I will lose my job."
With these words, Katy felt at the time even more sad and understanding. She knew that if her dad lost his job, they wouldn't have enough money to live healthy. She tried to comfort herself, by thinking that three months wasn't that long. Then, something came to her mind. In three months was her birthday! It was now September 14th, and December 18th was her birthday!
"When will you come back?" She asked the question almost in a whisper, John had never missed her birthday.
John smiled. "I will come back the 16th. I will definitely be there on your birthday. "
Katy felt relieved. With all those emotions, she felt asleep on her parents' bed. Her last thought was: An amazing life always has some sad things.
