Chapter 5 of 8 - Hatred From The Heart

"Yeah, I'm alive. And doing better than I ever was with you," Ashe smirked. Raine and Stormy looked at each other, back at Ashe, then back at each other again. Finally, Stormy managed to pull the knife out of her knee and stand against the wall. She tried to give her brother a hug, only to be pushed back to the ground. "Back off." "E-everyone thought you killed yourself... when you've been..." "Alive? Doing great? Living my life better than you ever offered?" Ashe growled. Raine was standing by this point as well. "We tried giving you everything... everything for a good life... and this is what you do to us?!" she cried. "Don't you DARE blame me for this. All I ever wanted was to be as strong and as smart as you were! I wanted to join your gang, work with you! However, you shunned me out because I was weak and frail. This is all on you two," Ashe shot back. He looked past his sisters. "The documents... give them to me." He pointed to a small steel vault. Suddenly, a look of recognition grew across Stormy's face. "... do you know what those documents are about...?" she asked. "I have no care for what they are; all I know is that I will get them if it's the last thing I do," Ashe said firmly. His sisters looked distraught on what they should do, until out of the dark... "How about a deal?" The three turned to see Star and Allister standing in a corner. Star stepped forward and pointed at Raine and Stormy. "You seem to have a lot to explain to Ashe... but none of us is leaving without the documents." "Who the hell are you...?!" "Don't worry about that. Give us the documents... and we'll take you to our home so you can talk with Ashe." "No, I'm not doing it," Ashe said. Star shot him a steely glare. Ashe reluctantly sighed, then nodded in agreement. Raine retrieved the documents, two yellow folders with government files inside, and handed them to Star. "Now our part of the deal?" she said. Star nodded and motioned for them to follow. Ashe was confused... did his sisters actually love him? Or did they just need to use him for something? "... you have a nice place, Ashe." Raine said, looking around their home. Ashe looked away in hatred, only to have Allister shoot a look at him. "Thanks... I guess..." Ashe muttered. Despite seeing them as enemies of Ashe, Star tried to be kind and provide good hospitality; she set out some snacks and bandaged the sisters' wounds carefully, all while keeping up a light-hearted conversation. "... thank you for helping us..." Stormy said, a blush of embarrassment creeping upon her face. Star shrugged. "It's fine. By the way, my name is Star." Raine nodded and turned to Ashe. She looked so hurt, and then... "Heh... hahaha!" Ashe looked at her strangely. "What's so funny?" he asked in a bitter tone. Raine started to calm down. "It's just... wow. Look at you... last time we saw you, you said you hated us. We thought it was just a tantrum, but here you are now... strong, healthy, smart, living with your best friends... it's honestly amazing..." she stopped laughing. Tears welled in her eyes again as her voice cracked. "Y-you have no idea how much we've m-missed you, Ashe... we've tried to seriously hurt ourselves multiple times because we couldn't bear you being gone..." she cried. Ashe was slightly moved; they did love him. However, he felt like he had to keep hating them. "Well, good..." he whispered under his breath. Unfortunately, he happened to say it right as Star was passing by, and she heard it. Her eyes filled with rage as she pulled Ashe onto his feet. "One second, I just need to have a word with Ashe for a minute..." she said fake-cheerfully before dragging Ashe outside the suite.
