New school, new start. That's what Beth hoped for anyway. In her last posh secondary school, everyone hated her because of her Big Secret. She didn't see what we wrong with being lesbian. Anyway, it as none of everyone's business what sexuality she was. It was like being lesbian was some kind of crime against nature! He mum had assured her that it wasn't but her step dad despised her. He was always abusive and drunk but he only beated Beth when her mum was not home. He would always try to find an excuse for her scars nd bruises. She ran down the stairs and grinned as she saw that it was her mother in the kitchen instead of Josh-her step dad. Her mum had made Beth her favourite breakfast: crumpets spread thickly with chocolate spread. But not any chocolate spread; it was Cadbury chocolate. She chopped it down and raced back upstairs to her bedroom and got changed into her new Grant High school uniform. The purple blazer held the schools crest: a horse running on water. And the checked skirt was striped purple and gold. She wore it down past her knees so that not too much of her legs showed and she grabbed a black handbag as she rushed back out of the front door pecking her mum's cheek as she passed. She boarded the school bus that had stopped outside of her house and boarded the bus.
