Mochi Ai is the sweetest, cutest, most kawaii person you could ever know. Returning to her stepmom and dad back in USA from the Harajuku district of Japan, she meets the alpha of her new school, a wolf-and-dragon hybrid named Drake. Poetic, huh? As the two get to know each other, however, Drake realizes Mochi has some nasty skeletons in the closet. What is she? Who is she?
"He DEFENDED you?!!" Anais almost yelled. Luckily, the rooftop where the three friends ate lunch was completely secluded... well, except for them. Mochi nodded as she looked through her backpack. "He was so nice and sweet! He even offered to give me a lesson in art this weekend!" she said, pulling out a small pink box. Thea stared in amazement. "Drake is kind, but he's usually cold and antisocial. He's never defended anyone other than us and- WHAT IN SWEET HOLY JESUS IS THAT?!!" She pointed to Mochi's lunch: a full role of salmon-and-cottage cheese sushi with a side of rice and kimchi, with a small cooler on the side. Mochi giggled. "This was my favorite meal back in Japan! Would you like to try?" she asked. "Yes, PLEASE! It looks so delicious!" Thea exclaimed. As they shared the food, Mochi revealed what was in the little cooler: several small pieces of mochi, the actual food. Mochi (the protagonist) noticed Anais pop a piece of mochi in Thea's mouth... then kiss her on the cheek! "Wait, why did you just kiss Thea?" Mochi asked. Anais and Thea turned red. Just as they were about to say something, a young student ran onto the roof, tears streaming from her eyes. "There's a fight downstairs!!!" the girl wailed.
"Ready to give up?!!" Drake snarled. "I didn't challenge the hybrid alpha just to give up!" Gavin snarled. Mochi stared at the battle: Drake stood over Gavin, scars and bruises on both of their faces. Gavin took another swing... but something blocked it. Mochi. "Wha- Mochi?! What the heck are you doing here?!" Drake asked. "Why are you fighting? What reason could be worth trying to kill someone?" she asked calmly. The crowd surrounding them stared in silence. Suddenly, Gavin began laughing- no, it was more of a cackle. "Oh, so the new girl from Japan is gonna try and break up the fight! Lemme guess, you're gonna sing a crappy song?!" he laughed. Several other students joined in as well. Then, Drake shot another punch... but it hit Mochi instead. She stood still, her eyes closed and nose bleeding. "Oh, she's getting ready to cry! I'll help it all come out!!!" Gavin yelled, shoving Mochi on the ground. Finally, her eyes shot open... but they glowed red. Waves of fear seemed to radiate throughout the crowd, scaring people away until it was just Mochi, Anais, Thea, Drake, and Gavin. Mochi looked up at Gavin. "RUN." she snarled in a demonic voice. Gavin finally ran away, whimpering at the terrifying sight... but then, Mochi passed out cold on the ground.
