"For your first assignment," Mr Yulu explained, "You will get to team up with another coven! It will be your choice of who to team up with."
This is perfect! If I choose the Ocean Coven, I could team up with Amity!
"I would like to team up with the Ocean Coven," I said proudly.
"Okay, what do you think, Owen and Lea?" Mr Yulu asked.
"Sure," Owen said.
"Sure," Lea whispered, looking down at her feet.
"Alright, great! You all can start walking to their room. It is room number 105!" Mr Yulu said, smiling.
"Thank you, Mr. Yulu!" Owen said.
"No problem! Have fun!"
The three of us started walking to the Ocean Coven.
"I always thought the Ocean Coven was pretty cool!" Lea said.
"Me too!" I said back.
"Eh, it's ok. I like this coven. We're FORTUNE TELLERS! Now that's pretty cool, right?" Owen said.
"Yeah, I guess," I mumbled.
"Yeah, it is," Lea said quietly.
We all looked up and saw the numbers: 105. I opened the door knob and walked in. It smelled kind of like salt water, or the beach, which made sense. The older kids were creating huge waves with nothing but a wave of their hand. Other kids were looking into the jars of sand, shells, and sea-stars.
"Whoa," Lea whispered.
"Cool," I said.
"Wow," Owen said with his mouth hanging open.
I saw a girl who looked familiar. She had red hair that was tied into a messy side bun, a long and flowing blue dress with little sea-stars on it, and a huge smile on her face.
"Raina?!" She exclaimed.
"Amity!!!!???" I shrieked.
"What are you doing here?" Amity asked.
"I can answer that," said Mr. Yulu, appearing out of nowhere.
"Ahhhhhhh!!!!!!" We all screamed.
"They are here for the "Team-up Project" as we call it. You must experiment on how to mix your magic in a peaceful way. That may be hard since this is The Fortune Tellers Coven and The Ocean Coven, but we shall see how it goes." Mr. Yulu Explained.
"Okay," Amity said, smiling at me.
"Good luck you all! You have 4 hours, which may seem like a while but trust me, you will ALL need it," Mr Yulu said.
It seemed like his eyes almost hooked onto mine. His stare seemed cold and dark. I didn't dare to blink, I was afraid of what might happen. His eyes were black and bold, even behind his round glasses. He was a little pudgy, but apparently quite scary. He broke away from the gaze, and I felt like puking after he looked away. What had just happened? I felt as if this would haunt me later, as if he had cast a spell on me. Maybe he was just staring off into space, who knows! Then I heard the clacking of high heels. I looked up and saw a girl in the same dress as Amity, but with short (REALLY short), white hair. Her eyes were a wispy blue, almost smoky.
"Hey Ams," she said, talking to Amity, "Who are they?"
"Oh! Raina, this is Thalassa! Thalassa, this is Raina. I don't really know who those guys are," Amity said.
"I'm Owen, and this is my twin sister Lea."
"Hi," Lea whispered.
"Thalassa's ancestors lived on land AND sea. She's technically half mermaid!!" Amity shrieked.
"Not mermaid, SIREN Amity. Half SIREN, not mermaid," Thalassa said, annoyed.
"Oh right, sorry," Amity mumbled.
"So let's give you guys a tour," Thalassa said.
I still felt like puking, and it was starting to get annoying. Mr. Yulu didn't seemed like the kind of guy who would want to hypnotize someone, but I couldn't jump to conclusions. I started walking, staying in the back of Owen, Amity, Thalassa, and Lea. Lea was lagging behind too, so I tugged on the back of her shirt.
"Hey," I whispered to her.
She stopped walking.
"Hi."
"Something really weird just happened to me."
"What?"
"Mr. Yulu had me in an intense staring contest."
"Yeah."
"And I wasn't backing down. It seemed like forever, but he finally 'broke his gaze' and walked away. Now I feel nauseous."
"Hmm, that is weird. Maybe he hypnotized you?"
"That's what I was thinking, but I can't just accuse him with no proof. I need evidence."
"I have a whole book of hypnotizing. And we are soon-to-be fortune tellers! Once we learn, we will just do what we do best, tell the future."
"Good points. Maybe once the class is done you can show me the book!"
"For sure! Let's spy on Mr. Yulu!"
"Heck yeah baby!"
"Guys, are you coming?" Owen shouted.
"Coming!" Lea and I shouted back in sync.
We smiled mischievous smiles at each other. And this was just the beginning...
