Liz's life went well until a bomb exploded beneath her and her family's house. The explosion left Liz as a orphan, and the charming little yellow cottage that her family lived in to thousands of pieces. Liz was shipped off to a orphanage in America, where she finds a new home, but it was never the same as a previous one.
The next morning was very plain. The doctors gave me rest, and they fed me by hand. I actually didn't mind, my hand was still shrieking. The second day also rested. I only got up (in a wheel-chair) to use the bathroom. On the third day, the doctors coaxed me out of bed and taught me how to use the wheel-chair. Turns out I've been only knocked out for two days, and they didn't study me much until they found out my left ankle was broken. Great. The doctors told me how to use my left hand instead of my right hand to write, and I got used to it. My life was new now. No more mom to wake me up. No more dad to help me make breakfast. No Inky (my cat) to cheer me up and play with. No more Luke (my older brother) to help me with homework. I've always felt the same kind of pain every day as I got up in the morning. Finally, when my legs (not my ankle) were better, the doctor who kept on forgetting my name and calling me 'girl' sat me down on a chair and explained to me what they were going to do.
"We're going to send you to America to an orphanage. In California. One of my friends there works in an orphanage that's very nice and many people go there. You'll be adopted in no time, but you'll be overseas and in the air and on the train to travel there. It'll be quite a journey, but you remember what us doctors taught you.'
I nodded. I tried to. My brain was too numb to give me any commands to move. I even forgot how to breathe for a second.
"Girl?"
"Y-yes."
"Good. Now, rest."
That was something the doctors said every time. "Now, rest.", "Lay down, now.", ''Sit down, Liz.", "Now, rest, Liz.". When the doctor left, I cried. I didn't know what to do. I was now an orphan. Forever. I couldn't bring mom, dad, Luke, and Inky back to life. Well, I'd have to deal with it. And that was that.
