Sex Drive Foods
Thankfully there are several food options available that can assist us in this key area of life and all are available without a doctor’s note, or a prescription for enhancement aids!
Watermelon
This might not be the fruit we expected to find on this list but watermelon is an excellent choice for a libido-boosting snack. Watermelon is loaded with citrulline which is a compound that helps our bodies and blood vessels relax, increasing blood flow to all the important areas. In addition to this, it has a high water content which keeps us hydrated as we work or exercise or play.
Pine Nuts
Pine nuts, out of all the other nuts out there, have a high zinc content and are beneficial to our bodies in several different ways. Zinc however is known for increasing our sex drives so sprinkle a few pine nuts on some pasta or option for the pesto rather than the red sauce and enjoy some much needed mineral replenishing.
Beef Steak
Or burger, roast, etc. Basically beef in general. Beef contains zinc and iron which help maintain good blood flow and support the transportation of oxygen through the blood. Beef also contains B vitamins and protein which are essential for energy and endurance fuel. Protein also stimulates the brain to release dopamine which is one of the feel good happy hormones we all are hooked on.
Dark Chocolate
We’ve all heard that chocolate is a must for romantic date nights and there is some truth to the myth. Firstly though, make sure the chocolate is dark. None of that milk or white chocolate will cut it. Dark chocolate contains a compound called phenylethylamine which triggers the release of feel good happy endorphins and puts us in the mood. Chocolate cake anyone?
The Warmth Of Spices
Nothing quite beats a good cup of spicy herbal tea or a flavorful cinnamon nutmeg cookie. These warming spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg and cayenne are great at boosting libido. They increase circulation and blood flow, soothe and calm jagged nerves and overall help us to relax and get into the mood. Cinnamon and nutmeg are traditional aphrodisiacs in lots of cultures as well.
Spinach
This delicious but often overlooked leafy green is rich in magnesium which fights inflammation in the blood and increases blood flow to the extremities. Both genders will benefit from an increase of spinach in their diets, with women finding that orgasms come easier and men can have longer and more natural erections. Plus, without all that inflammation clogging things up, we will begin to feel better in other areas of our lives too.
Oysters
Oysters are a delicious seafood dish which is high in the mineral zinc. Zinc elevates testosterone levels in men and boosts the growth factor hormone which is vital to physical performance and muscle growth in every area of life, not just in the bedroom. So splurge a little and have a platter of oysters for dinner with chocolate for dessert.
Asparagus
This is definitely not one of the vegetables traditionally on lists like this one. It made it because asparagus (like broccoli) is high in natural folate acid which is good for a great many things, including regulating the production of a hormone called histamine. This is the same hormone that our bodies release during an orgasm. It is definitely something we want regulated.
Nuts And Seeds
Similar to the pine nuts we mentioned earlier, other nuts and seeds are high in protein, zinc and L-arginine which is an amino acid responsible for producing nitric oxide. Nitric oxide helps to relax blood vessels and increase circulation in the body. Additionally, walnuts in particular have Omega 3 fatty acids which boost dopamine levels and help us feel all good and happy.
Salmon
And other oily fish like sardines and tuna are high in Omega 3 fatty acids. We know that these acids boost the production of dopamine which increases blood flow and circulation throughout the body triggering arousal and getting the party started. If a delicious salmon dinner is out of the equation then opt for a cod fish oil supplement.
Raspberries And Strawberries
There is a reason that these berries are traditionally paired with dark chocolate and cream for insanely delicious desserts on big romantic dates. And that is because these fruits are high in zinc. Zinc helps women’s bodies prepare for canoodles while it boosts testosterone for men and sperm production. It is extra important for men to load up on zinc as their levels decrease during intercourse.
Peaches
This sweet sunshiny fruits are high in vitamin C which is essential to our overall quality of life. Vitamin C helps to increase sperm count and improve the sperm as well. Additionally, a lack of vitamin C in our diets can negatively impact our chances of conception so be sure to increase the consumption of vitamin C to lower the risk of infertility.
Saffron
This flavorful herb is a natural aphrodisiac which, when consumed, can improve our performance and overall libido. Additionally, saffron can also boost stamina and energy levels. This is definitely something we can get behind.
Garlic
Garlic has a bad rep for ruining date night but it is, in fact, quite a delicious addition to the evening meal and if both of us are eating it then it can’t be all that bad. Garlic is a natural blood thinner which can help increase blood flow to all the important regions. So enjoy the meal and then pop in a breath mint.
Red Wine
This one is specifically for the ladies out there. Research has shown that when women have one to two glasses of red wine a day, it helps to increase desire and lubrication. These higher levels and the natural relaxing effect that wine has on us all contribute to women feeling more aroused and in the mood for amorous activities. Sending the kids to grandma’s house before opening the wine is also highly recommended.
